YouTube launches Pride campaign with #ProudToBe video

YouTube

YouTube released a video celebrating Pride on Tuesday as part of its new #ProudToBe campaign. The video celebrates the online video community’s diversity of sexual orientations and gender identities amongst its creators. Comprised of videos previously published on YouTube, the video features online stars such as Tyler Oakley, Gigi Gorgeous, Tré Melvin and Ingrid Nilsen.

The video also references the importance of being proud of your identity following the tragic shooting in Orlando. “Now is the time to say ‘No’ to the hate, to the violence,” says Chris Oflyng in the video. In the description of the video, a statement from YouTube reads, “Now, more than ever, it’s important that we help accept, love, and celebrate one another. In the wake of the tragic events in Orlando, we stand together in support of the LGBTQ community.”

As part of its larger campaign, YouTube is encouraging all types of video creators to post their own video showing who they’re #ProudToBe. In a statement to AdWeek, YouTube’s chief marketing officer Danielle Tiedt shared, “We are really proud for YouTube to stand for a community where everyone can belong.” Multiple creators have already uploaded their #ProudToBe videos:

YouTube has created several other playlists of Pride-related videos:
