This Saturday, July 16 at 8 p.m., The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts and the Los Angeles LGBT Center will present “United FORlando”, a special tribute concert and conversation to support the victims of the Orlando shooting.
As part of the concert portion of the event, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles will perform. In addition, there will be a performance by the cast of Hit the Wall, a drama by Ike Holter set at NYC’s Stonewall Inn in the summer of 1969.
The conversation portion is titled “After Orlando: Reflections and Where We Go From Here” and will be moderated by actor and activist Wilson Cruz. Cruz’s relative, Brenda McCool, was killed in the Orlando shooting and he honored her last month at Logo’s Trailblazer Honors. The panelists in the conversation will be Kate Kendall, Executive Director of the National Center for Lesbian rights, as well as Darrel Cummings, Chief of Staff of the Los Angeles LGBT Center.
Proceeds from United FORlando, along with additional donations, will go to the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida. Los Angeles LGBT Center CEO Lorri L. Jean stated that “organizations like the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida have been at the heart of this struggle and we are proud to support them in this challenging time.”
“The Wallis is an advocate for inclusion and this evening aims to further a critical dialogue and demonstrate that there are no boundaries or walls within the arts,” said The Wallis’ Artistic Director Paul Crewes and Managing Director Rachel Fine.
Tickets for United FORlando are still available online and cost between $25 and $45. Don’t miss out on the special tribute event this Saturday, July 16 at 8 p.m. at The Wallis is Los Angeles!
