Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) On Friday, the Downton Abbey movie will open in theaters across the country. Based on the critically acclaimed series of the same name, the movie will follow the characters of the television show, preparing for a visit from The Queen. The film will also delve into the story of the gay butler Thomas, and how he lives in the new decade. Watch the trailer below, and click here for tickets.

2) Documentary Where’s My Roy Cohn? hits select theaters on Friday and will expand further in the coming weeks. The documentary is a history of the famed politician, infamously portrayed in Angels in America, and how he paved the way for the Donald Trump presidency. 3) Zoey Luna, a transgender Latina actress, has been cast in the reboot of the 1996 cult favorite The Craft. She will be playing Lourdes, a trans teenage witch. Written and directed by Zoe Lister-Jones, and produced by Blumhouse, The Craft also cast Greenleaf’s Lovie Simone and Blockers’ Gideon Adlon. Given that there were no transgender characters in major studio films in 2018, Luna’s casting is a huge step forward for transgender representation in mainstream film.

4) MTV Documentary Films has acquired the rights to film festival favorite Gay Chorus Deep South, which follows 300 singers who traveled from Mississippi to Tennessee through the Carolinas, bringing a message of love and acceptance. It is set to premiere later in the fall. In further film news, HBO will distribute Bad Education, a comedy starring Hugh Jackman as a closeted gay school superintendent who becomes wrapped up in a scandal. In other film news, out bi actress Natalie Morales has been cast in crime thriller The Little Things, joining Denzel Washington and Rami Malek.

5) The first trailer for season three of Netflix’s Big Mouth was released on Tuesday. The show follows a group of teen characters trying to understand puberty, including multiple queer characters. The trailer also teases a crossover with Queer Eye, with the Fab Five voicing animated versions of themselves. Season three of Big Mouth will be on Netflix October 4, and the trailer is below. In more TV news, it was announced that out bi actress Stephanie Beatriz will be a guest star in season three of Disney’s Elena of Avalor.

6) Out actress and recent Emmy winner Jane Lynch has announced a new Netflix show from herself and singer Cyndi Lauper. While most details have been kept under wraps, Lynch has described it as “a Golden Girls for today.” In more television news, GLAAD Media Award-nominated comedy Schitt’s Creek has announced that its sixth and final season will premiere on Pop TV on January 7, 2020. A teaser has been released for the second season of The CW’s All American. Watch the teaser below, featuring lesbian character Coop.

7) NBC has put a comedy from out writer and comedian Nick Lehmann and Matt Hubbard into development called Like Son, Like Father. The show will follow “Nick, an out and proud gay man, who finds himself in the unenviable position of assuming the role of his newly outed father’s gay mentor and new roommate.” Out actor and writer Dan Levy of Schitt’s Creek has signed an overall deal with ABC to produce scripted content for the network. Out writer and director Nahnatchka Khan has also signed a multi-year deal, but with Netflix features, where she recently directed Always Be My Maybe.

8) Last weekend, the Creative Arts Emmys were given out in several categories, including guest acting categories, short-form, and several technical categories. LGBTQ winners include Cherry Jones for her role on The Handmaid’s Tale, Jane Lynch for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, four awards for Queer Eye including Outstanding Structured Reality Program, and three awards for RuPaul’s Drag Race. 9) Mila Jam released a new song and video on Wednesday, “Eye on You.”  The video shows a relationship between her and queer artist Yves. Jam said to Billboard, “The relationship onscreen is all about beauty and support, exactly what every trans woman deserves, what everyone in the community deserves.” Watch the music video below. Queer artist and producer Vigiletti has also released a new music video for his song “Likable” with Goonsoul. The video also features drag queen Laganja Estranja. Watch it here! 

10) Charli XCX and out singer Troye Sivan released a music video for their song “2099,” off XCX’s newest album Charli. Watch the music video here. Out singer Brian Justin Crum released a new single “Bright” today. The song is a call for people to discover their inner light. Listen to “Bright” here. Out bi pop singer Tove Lo released her newest album today, Sunshine Kitty. It is available to download and stream here. 

11) Short documentary Golden Voice is currently funding to tell the story of a transgender man who worked under the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia. Forty years later, the film follows Noy Sitha as he returns to his village with his two best friends, also transgender men. Click here to support the project and and learn more.
