Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBT-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) The Intervention, out actress Clea DuVall’s directorial debut, is now playing in theaters. The film, which premiered at Sundance and screened at Outfest Los Angeles, focuses on four couples going away for a weekend in the country, three of which are trying to help save the fourth’s marriage. DuVall also stars as the film’s main character with Natasha Lyonne as her partner – a nod to their roles in classic film, But I’m A Cheerleader.

2) Ellen Page and Kate Mara will be playing romantic opposites in Mercy, a new movie from Killer Films, the production company that brought us Carol and Kill Your Darlings. The film is about a Romeo & Juliet-esque romance between Page’s Lucy, whose father is on death row, and Mara’s character, whose family is on the opposite side of the case. Shooting for Mercy will begin this September. In other film casting news, Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez will be playing a lesbian character in the upcoming sci-fi film Annihilation. Rodriguez describes the character of Anya as “a paramedic from Chicago who happens to be a lesbian and an ex-addict going into the Shimmer [an entity that is trying to end the world] to be the hero that she’s kinda always wanted to be.”

3) The pilot for Transparent creator Jill Soloway’s new show I Love Dick is now up on Amazon. The show focuses on the ailing marriage between Chris, a struggling filmmaker, and her husband Sylvestre when a new friend comes into town. Out actress Roberta Colindrez plays Devon, Chris and Sylvestre’s neighbor, who is definitely interested in Chris, but is waiting for her marriage to dissolve before making her move. Viewers can vote now for which pilots they’d like Amazon to turn into full series.

4) Freeform will be developing out filmmaker Patrick Sean Smith’s new show, Santa Monica Shores. Smith formerly created the GLAAD Media Award-nominated series Greek for the network. Starz’ original series Survivor’s Remorse has been renewed for a fourth season, and the trailer for the newest season of Gaycation is out now.

5) This weekend, out musician Frank Ocean released, in effect, two albums – Blonde, his highly anticipated follow-up to Channel Orange, and Endless, a visual album meant to accompany that. Both can be listened to and viewed on Apple Music.

6) In other music news, the band Prinze George released a music video for their single, ‘Wait Up’, that shows the emotional journey of a gay couple by starting with one moment – a kiss – and going backwards from there. Additionally, singer Logan Lynn also debuted a music video for his single, “Go Where You Want To Be Loved,” a song that celebrates queerness, the proceeds of which go towards the survivors of the Pulse shooting. Watch the video here.

7) The 29th annual Lambda Literary Awards opened up for submissions this week.
