Every week, the GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend!

1) A biopic of transgender icon Candy Darling is currently in development, with Zackary Drucker and Stephanie Kornick signed to the project as well. Darling was primarily an actress, featured in some of Andy Warhol’s work in the early 70s, and was a muse for the band The Velvet Underground. We are excited to see Darling’s story on screen.

2) Shadowhunters will return with the second half of season 3 on February 25^th at 8 PM. These will be the last episodes of the GLAAD Media Award-winning Freeform series, which features several LGBTQ characters, including fan favorite couple Alec Lightwood and Magnus Bane. Watch the trailer below.

3) The L Word is officially coming back to the small screen, it was announced at TCAs this week. The series will feature some of the favorites of the past, including stars Jennifer Beals (Bette) and Katherine Moennig (Shane), who are already committed to the project. The eight episode series is expected to premiere on Showtime before 2019 comes to a close.

4) From Tarell Alvin McCraney, the writer of the play In Moonlight Black Boys Look Blue which was adapted to become Oscar winner Moonlight, comes the new series David Makes Man. The show follows a 14-year old prodigy who must choose between where he is from and who he could become. The series is set to premiere in summer of 2019 on OWN. Watch the trailer below.

5) Disney is reported to have put the tentatively titled Four Dads series into development for their upcoming streaming service, Disney+. The show focuses on a gay couple who divorced each other to be with other partners while raising their two daughters. In other TV news, out actress Natalie Morales will play bisexual bartender Abby on NBC’s new series Abby’s. The show centers on Abby, who has an unlicensed bar in her backyard that her neighbors frequent, and the shenanigans the regulars get up to. The premiere will be on March 28^th at 9:30 PM. 6) The wait is over for The Chi season 2 trailer! The Lena Waithe-executive produced series will delve more into the lives and aspirations of its characters in the Southside of Chicago as the series progresses. Watch the trailer below. In other Showtime news, Shameless will definitely be returning for season 10, and even more exciting news? Ian Gallagher (Cameron Monaghan) will rejoin the Gallagher antics on screen. The last we saw of Ian, he was embracing his tumultuous and iconic romance with Mickey (Noel Fisher) in prison. Production will start in 2019 with a premiere date to come.

7) Out actress Sasha Lane is set to star in the series Utopia, adapted by Amazon from the original British series of the same name. The series will surround a group of young people who meet online, and are terrorized by a government organization once they find a dangerous graphic novel. The series will be available exclusively through Prime Video. Also on the streaming front, all episodes of Hulu’s Shrill will premiere on March 15^th.  Watch the trailer below, featuring trans actress and comedian Patti Harrison.

8) Out singer Sam Smith and Normani released their music video for “Dancing with a Stranger” on Monday. The video dives into the fleeting and meaningless feelings that come with meeting someone new after a breakup. Watch the music video below.

9) The new girlpool album What Chaos Is Imaginary was released today, led by non-binary musician Cleo Tucker. The album is available for purchase on iTunes and other retailers.

10) Out disability advocate Nyle DiMarco released a recreation of Ariana Grande’s “7 Rings” in sign language on Monday. This came shortly after DiMarco’s Twitter correspondence with Grande about the need for including closed captions in “Thank U, Next.” Grande herself praised DiMarco’s rendition of “7 Rings.”

11) The Rent Live soundtrack was released today, featuring songs from the FOX feature of the same name. Click here to listen to the full album. In other music news, queer rapper and Drag Race star Aja will release a new album entitled BOX OFFICE on February 7^th. BOX OFFICE tells the story of the artist’s unique childhood as an adopted child who was raised in a Puerto Rican household and claiming their true identity.

12) Alanis Morisette’s musical Jagged Little Pill is going to Broadway. One of the show’s main characters is Frankie, who is the Black adopted daughter of the white woman the show centers on, Mary Jane. Frankie’s story includes exploration of her own queerness, as well as her relationship with her genderqueer best friend, Jo. The Broadway premiere date has not yet been determined following the show’s 10-week run in Connecticut.

13) The first volume of Something Like Summer, an LGBTQ comic, is currently seeking funding help. The story surrounds Benjamin, who is past coming out as gay on a large scale and is now looking for love. Click here to learn more about the comic series and contribute.
