UNCLIMBABLE? Men scale Trumps border wall in viral video: “The 38-second video shows a pair of men climbing the ladder while another holds it on the Mexico side of the border. After one man successfully slides down the railing to the U.S. side and starts running toward a second structure, another begins yelling in Spanish, “Hurry, hurry, jump the fence.” A vehicle that appears to belong to U.S. Border Patrol then pulls up and officials emerge, prompting the other men to gather the ladder and slide back down the fence into Mexico. The 16-year-old Mexican citizen who ran into the U.S. was apprehended by Border Patrol, Assistant Chief Patrol Agent Joshua Devack said in a video statement posted to Twitter.”

BIDEN’S PLAN. He’ll have Mayor Pete take down Elizabeth Warren: “Biden’s campaign declined to comment on the record about its strategy. But multiple veteran pollsters and operatives said there’s sound logic behind the notion that the vice president’s team might view Buttigieg as a useful way to help blunt Warren’s momentum, particularly with white college-educated voters. The more Buttigieg rises in states like Iowa and New Hampshire, the thinking goes, the more Warren slips in some polls.”

CARLOS GREGORIO HERNANDEZ VASQUEZ. Migrant teen dies in Texas jail cell. “Following Mr. Hernandez Vasquez’s death, a news release stated that he was discovered by federal agents during a welfare check. But a video recording provided by the Police Department in Weslaco, Texas, which initially investigated the case, shows that his death was flagged by his cellmate.”

MAGGIE SMITH. On Harry Potter and Downton Abbey: “I am deeply grateful for the work in Potter and indeed Downton, but it wasn’t what you’d call satisfying. I didn’t really feel I was acting in those things.”

SYDNEY. “Mega fire” forms north of Queensland’s largest city: “The blaze was burning across 300,000 hectares — an area roughly 60 kilometres (37 miles) across — within an hour’s drive of Australia’s largest city, which was again subsumed in a soup of toxic smoke.”

Says Biden in the ad: “The world sees Trump for what he is. Insincere, ill-informed, corrupt, dangerously incompetent, and incapable in my view of world leadership. And if we give Donald Trump four more years, we’ll have a great deal of difficulty of ever being able to recover America’s standing in the world, and our capacity to bring nations together.”

“Raise your right hand, you’ve never had a lesbian affair,” interjected Stern.

“Never, never, never! Never even been tempted, thank you very much.”

The show’s synopsis: “Robert Lee (RuPaul), better known as the drag queen Ruby Red, has big dreams of opening his very own drag club. After years of performing in clubs all across the country, he has scrimped and saved and is one signed lease away from turning his dreams into a reality until he realizes he’s been swindled by a charismatic grifter (Josh Segarra) and his eye-patch wearing partner-in-crime, Lady Danger (Tia Carrere). With his heart broken and money stolen, Robert has no choice but to pick up the pieces and start over, and a cross country Ruby Red roadshow provides the perfect opportunity to do just that. But when AJ (Izzy G.), a scrappy, streetwise 10-year-old escaping a difficult home life, stows away in Robert’s rundown RV, the consummate performer suddenly finds himself in a new set of shoes: de facto parent. Fabulously mismatched yet perfectly paired, AJ and Ruby must find a way to navigate through tough times as they learn a few tricks from one another and roll on to brighter days.”

Finn and Poe Won’t Be Romantically Involved in ‘Rise of Skywalker’ But JJ Abrams Says LGBTQ Fans Will Feel Represented

Finn and Poe Won’t Be Romantically Involved in ‘Rise of Skywalker’ But JJ Abrams Says LGBTQ Fans Will Feel Represented

Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, and director JJ Abrams threw cold water on hopes that the relationship between characters Finn and Poe would blossom into a romantic relationship in The Rise of Skywalker.

Said Isaac to Variety: “Personally, I kind of hoped and wished that maybe that would’ve been taken further in the other films, but I don’t have control. It seemed like a natural progression, but sadly enough it’s a time when people are too afraid, I think, of…I don’t know what. … If they would’ve been boyfriends, that would have been fun.”

Said Boyega: “They’ve always had a quite loving and open relationship in which it wouldn’t be too weird if it went beyond it. But at the same time, they are just platonic at the moment.”

Director JJ Abrams called the Finn-Poe relationship “a far deeper one than a romantic one” but told fans to look for LGBTQ representation elsewhere: “And in the case of the LGBTQ community, it was important to me that people who go to see this movie feel that they’re being represented in the film. I will say I’m giving away nothing about what happens in the movie. But I did just say what I just said.”

Coldplay’s Chris Martin Once Thought He Might Be Gay and it Changed His Mind About God

Coldplay’s Chris Martin Once Thought He Might Be Gay and it Changed His Mind About God

Coldplay’s Chris Martin sat down for a lengthy interview with Rolling Stone founder and editorial director Jann Wenner. One of the topics they covered was Martin’s religious upbringing and how it affected him during a time he was questioning his sexual orientation. Martin said his earlier beliefs about God were very “man with a beard in the sky” who was very punitive, and were later influenced by evangelical Christianity. This prompted a lot of conflict when he began questioning if he was gay.

Said Martin: “When I went to boarding school I walked a bit funny and I bounced a bit and I was also very homophobic because I was like, ‘If I’m gay, I’m completely f**ked for eternity’ and I was a kid discovering sexuality. [I thought to myself], ‘Maybe I’m gay, maybe I’m this, maybe I’m that, I can’t be this’ so I was terrified. And then I walked a bit funny and I was in a boarding school with a bunch of quite hardcore kids who were also gone for their thing and, for a few years, they were very much like, ‘You’re definitely gay,’ in quite a full-on manner, quite aggressively telling me that and it was weird for me for a few years…”

Asked Wenner: “Did you think you were gay?”

Replied Martin: “[I thought to myself], ‘I don’t know and even if I am, I can’t be because it’s wrong… If I am, I can’t be’ so that was creating a terrible turmoil…”

Asked Wenner: “Did [the kids] convince you that you were gay?”

“I start to worry about it for sure,” replied Martin. “About 15 and a half, I don’t know what happened, but I was like, ‘Yeah so what?’ and then it all just stopped overnight. It was very interesting. Once I was like, ‘Yeah, so what if I’m gay.’”

“What stopped? Your worry, or the kids?” asked Wenner.

Replied Martin: “The worry and anyone teasing you and…I don’t know what it was. Maybe it was reading about Elton. I really don’t remember. Maybe just growing up a bit and having a bit more exposure to the world thinking, ‘A lot of my heroes are gay’ or whatever. Whatever they are, it doesn’t really matter. So what that did was ease a big pressure and then made me question, ‘Hey maybe some of this stuff that I’m learning about God and everything — I’m not sure if I subscribe to all of this particular religion’… So for a few years that was a bit wobbly and then eventually I just was like, ‘Okay, I think I have my own relationship with what I think God is and it’s not really any one religion for me.’”

Category Is GivingTuesday Realness: ‘Pose’ Star Billy Porter Talks Fashion, Politics and Giving Back

Actor, activist and icon Billy Porter knows how to rock a red carpet, but for him giving back is always in vogue.

This GivingTuesday, Porter is teaming up with PayPal to spread the word about all the ways it’s possible to give back. Donating money certainly is the quickest way to make an impact for those who have the means, but there are lots of ways to give your time and talents to support the causes that mean the most to you.

We chatted with Porter about his favorite ways to give back and how he’s using fashion to change this “toxic gender world.”

Photo: Michael Simon/startraksphoto.com

What drew you to this campaign?

The spirit of giving has always been a part of my life growing up in the church environment, it’s one of the first things they teach you. So, when PayPal called me about this, it was a no-brainer. I really, really try to live my life in a space of paying it forward as much as I can possibly can.

What are some of your favorite ways to give back?

I’m an artist, so I always try to use my art in some way to give back. When I first moved to NYC, back in the early ’90s, I worked with the Actors Fund and Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS very often. I would show up and sing at benefits, or do my own personal concerts where all the proceeds would go to the those organizations, so I’ve always done it through my creativity, because I haven’t always had the finances to give in that way … Money is always a way to give, and PayPal is going to be matching by 10 percent, but I think it’s more important for everyone to know that giving is a hard thing. Giving of your time, whether it’s volunteering at food bank or mentoring someone who needs that kind of assistance, supporting small businesses, for instance, donating. Donate some of those clothes you got in your closet that you can’t wear no more, it don’t fit no more, you’ve been holding on to it for two decades — you ain’t that size no more! Donate those clothes somewhere. It’s getting creative with how we give, but every, every bit of it counts and matters.

Giving back and and paying it forward happens ALWAYS. It’s a way of life, it’s the oxygen that we breathe. It’s the only way the world is going to become a better place.

What are causes you’re excited about right now?

I always speak of the Actors Fund because the Actors Fund of America has been around for 137 years. They’ve been dedicated and committed to making sure that artists — people in the arts, very often we’re freelance — are taken care of when the insecurity of freelance-ness rears its ugly head. I have been a beneficiary of them when I was in my downtime period, they helped me through a really, really rough period, helping me with rent and utility bills and medical bills … They’ve been really present for me. They’ve been available for me in ways that are unimaginable. So, I’m always finding ways to give back.

What are the urgent needs for the LGBTQ community during this giving season?

The rights of LGBTQ people in general are under attack, like many other people’s rights are under attack. I have specifically been enlightened by being a part of Pose and now being a part of the transgender community and what that means and what that feels like. It’s really, really time for our focus to shift into how to protect that part of our society, our human society.

Why is Giving Tuesday particularly relevant now in 2019?

Giving is always relevant, let me just say that. Giving is ALWAYS relevant. This is no different than any other time, other than the fact we feel like some of us are under an oppressive regime. That means we keep giving, and we keep giving. Frederick Douglass said, ‘Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,’ right? So, we just keep doing it. For me, it’s an extension of what I’ve always done. What I hope is that this moment is a springboard to remind people that giving is ALWAYS. Giving back and and paying it forward happens ALWAYS. It’s a way of life, it’s the oxygen that we breathe. It’s the only way the world is going to become a better place.

You’re no stranger to making a statement on and off the red carpet. What is your philosophy on fashion as a political act?

I’m from a generation of artists where the politics of it come first. The politics of it is rooted and grounded in the work, in general … So, we’re in this toxic gender world, where masculine and feminine are on opposite ends of the spectrum, and the twain shall never meet. That’s the conversation I knew we needed to have, but I didn’t know how intense it would be. It’s intense. It’s crazy. I feel humbled to be a part of that conversation, and I think it’s changing stuff. I know that it’s changing things. Fashion is art, and art is always political.

Biden: Mayor Pete ‘Stole’ My Health Plan

Biden: Mayor Pete ‘Stole’ My Health Plan

Former Vice President Joe Biden accused Pete Buttigieg of “stealing” his health plan in remarks to reporters aboard his campaign bus in Iowa on Monday.

Reuters reports: “Biden would add a ‘public option,’ allowing individuals to opt into a government plan but preserving the existing role for private insurers. Like Biden, Buttigieg, the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, favors the public option and coined the phrase ‘Medicare for all who want it’ to describe the concept.”

“He stole it,” said Biden, according to media reports, saying he would have been attacked by the press if he had done the same. “What would you have done to me? You’d have torn my ears off.”

Reuters adds: “A spokesman for Buttigieg’s campaign declined to comment but pointed to statements by Buttigieg about ‘Medicare for all who want it’ that pre-date Biden’s current presidential campaign.”

Biden has until now refused to directly attack Buttigieg, telling reporters earlier this week: “Anything I say about Pete will be taken as maybe criticism or a negative about Pete, and I don’t have any negative feelings about Pete at all. I think he’s a talented guy. I think the American people and people of Iowa are looking for somebody who doesn’t need a whole lot of on-the-job training.”
