Seattle Trans Life

Music + Marijuana + Estrogen = Anya

Today i’ll be getting my Nikon back and shooting new works over the weekend. I hope you all had a great Halloween full of delicious candy and scary movies! 🙂

This image was shot at home some time ago now, before i was switched to oral Estrogen i now take twice a day under my tongue. These patches were what i had the first year and a half into my transition here to what i refer to as ‘The most non-passable trans person in all of Seattle’ jokingly with folks since so many are inclined to simply call me he, him, etc. otherwise.

I don’t always wear makeup and when i do it’s minimal and tasteful. I have bold neck tattoos and combined with my Mohawk and deep voice no one views me as a female which makes sense to me and doesn’t bother me as it’s not like i’m trying to be seen as one. I’m comfortable as i am now having decided some time ago to not pursue further changes in order to be ‘passable as a female’.

It does have its benefits and downsides though. I can still use a men’s restroom as i prefer doing and i’m likely seen as less of a target for some who dislike us given my outward appearance as ‘male’ in many ways. As i see it, my gender is personal although i am open about it and proud to be what i am in this regard. I don’t exist to please others or conform to any expectation any trans or cisgendered person has for me.

I’ve met some who seem to view me as less of a person for not transitioning further which is always interesting to me. A double standard that allows men to be feminine, women to be masculine and then somehow i get seen as ‘less transgender’ because i’m not subscribing to a social norm women shouldn’t be held to either. It’s nonsensical but, it’s a glimpse into my world here some might appreciate learning more about perhaps through this post.

I wish you all a groovy Saturday! I’m off to bathe, throw on my beloved Sennheiser headphones, cue up some Brick Bazuka (It feels like a Brick day) and then head out to get my Nikon and some Seattle cannabis which always goes well with Hip-Hop and Photography 🙂

See you all sometime this weekend with some new photos!
