Front and Center: LGBTQ Nominees in the Spotlight at the GRAMMYs
The nominees for the 62nd GRAMMY Awards were announced this week, and many openly LGBTQ artists and allies are in the spotlight.
Lil Nas X, who has taken the world by storm with his viral song “Old Town Road,” is nominated for six categories, including Record of the Year.

“thank u, next” artist Ariana Grande has always been an open supporter of the LGBTQ community and earlier this year, she collaborated with T-Mobile to support HRC Foundation. Grande is nominated in five categories, including a nod for Album of the Year.
Legendary superstar and longtime supporter of the LGBTQ community, Lady Gaga is nominated in three categories for “A Star Is Born.”
Folk-rock singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile has been nominated in three categories, including Song of the Year and Best Country Song.
Actor-director John Waters has secured a spot in the Best Spoken Word Album category.
Talk show host and LGBTQ pioneer Ellen DeGeneres has been nominated for Best Comedy Album for “Relatable.”
Former Alabama Shakes lead singer Brittany Howard secured two nominations for her solo song “History Repeats.”

Artist Steve Lacy received a nod for his debut album “Apollo XXI” for Best Urban Contemporary.
Actress and singer Ali Stroker received a nomination for Best Musical Theater Album.
Other HRC supporters and allies that are nominated include Jack Antonoff, Beyonce, Taylor Swift, Maren Morris and more.
