“Proud” – Scottish Parliament

This poster is a reminder that the Scottish Parliament stands strong for its members and staff who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, as well as their allies. (Though I have to say, it is being tested quite a bit lately as Scotland’s own famed author J. K. Rowling has been an outspoken transphobe.)
Scotland had dissolved its parliament in 1707 upon joining a union with England and forming the United Kingdom of Great Britain, but in 1999, as Scotland gained a measure of self-rule, the modern Scottish Parliament was formed, and moved into a new building in 2004.
The building was designed by Catalonian architect Enric Miralles; there is a sense of shared experience and kinship between Scotland and Catalonia, as regions of the UK and Spain with their own culture and history, and often resenting the control from the larger England and Castille respectively.
