Pride Over Fear – Four Years Later

t was almost exactly 3 years and 364 days ago when I infamously posted a photo on Instagram and here (www.flickr.com/photos/rjrgmc28/30239051903) from this exact location and in this outfit saying these words:
“Trump will try and ruin the lives of LGBT Americans, but there is one thing that he can’t ruin.
LGBTIQ pride.”
Now, almost four years to the day where the lives of American LGBT folk, including numerous transgender sisters, brothers and everywhere in between were shaken up and turned upside down, the toxic tyrant has been shown the door and given their marching orders to go.
For far too long, the community had it rough.
For far too long, they’ve been treated like crap.
For far too long, many people have been injured, incapacitated or even killed for being who they are.
Some have been chased off social media and into hiding by supporters and troll armies.
Others have paid the price in the form of increased discrimination, hate and bigotry.
Today, despite being one day shy on when this chaotic mess all started, is a day where a huge weight has been lifted off the shoulders of the community.
It’s going to take a while for things to return to normal, but as the saying goes:
“From little things, big things grow.”
