Harris and Burtka, who have been together for 10 years, announced their engagement in 2011 after marriage equality passed in the New York State Senate. Harris revealed they had gotten engaged five years before that, but only then decided to make it public.

In 2012, the couple opened up to Out magazine about what makes their relationship work.

“We are, in a way, very codependent,” Burtka said. “He’s my lifeline, in an amazing way. Without him, I can’t breathe. The biggest thing is that he makes me laugh, but he’s also smart. He can do everything. I’m not kidding; I think he’s half robot. He makes me a little more grounded, and I bring out the wild side in him. Don’t get me wrong — we fight. Our fights last five minutes, then we’re over it. And we’re both Gemini — we have a good twin and a bad twin, and the four of us get along really well!”

13 Most Wanted Men: Andy Warhol Created A Scandal At The 1964 World’s Fair

Andy Warhol created a scandal at the 1964 New York World’s Fair when he chose to enlarge mug shots from an NYPD booklet featuring the 13 most wanted criminals of 1962. The exhibition was part of a set of public commissions for the exterior of the Philip Johnson-designed New York State Pavilion. The 13 Most Wanted Men was installed April 15, 1964, but due to anticipated controversy Fair officials painted over everything with silver paint. When the Fair opened to the public, visitors were all that was visible was an enormous silver panel.

During that summer Warhol produced 20 Most Wanted Men paintings on narrower canvases with the same screens he had used to make the mural. They were first shown to the public at The Sonnabend Gallery in Paris in 1967. These pieces were recently brought together again for an exhibition at the Queens Museum in April 2014 just 200 yards from the original site of Warhol’s mural.

The exhibition will open at The Andy Warhol Museum on September 27th.

The Andy Warhol Museum is located on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The permanent art collection includes 900 paintings; approximately 100 sculptures; nearly 2,000 works on paper; more than 1,000 published and unique prints; and 4,000 photographs. The archives collection features Warhol’s papers, source materials, and thousands of collectibles, books, and inspiration for the artist’s work. Their impressive film & video collection includes over 60 feature films, 200 of Warhol’s Screen Tests, and over 4,000 videos. The museum opened in May of 1994, joining three other Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, including the Carnegie Museum of Art, Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and the Carnegie Science Center.

Appeals Notice Filed in Ruling Upholding Louisiana's Gay Marriage Ban

Appeals Notice Filed in Ruling Upholding Louisiana's Gay Marriage Ban

LouisianaLate last week, Forum for Equality Louisiana and several gay couples filed their notcies of appeal in Louisiana Federal Judge Martin Feldman’s ruling earlier this month upholding the state’s ban on marriage equality.

Notably, Judge Feldman’s bizarre, hateful opinion was the first (and so far only) federal loss for equality in this post-DOMA court landscape. The appeal now goes to the New Orleans-based 5th Circuit Court of Appeals, where a Texas gay-marraige case is also pending.

The Shreveport Times reports that Michael Johnson, the attorney who defended Louisiana’s ban, said an appeal of the ruling was to be expected

“We’re prepared already to handle that,” Johnson said. “We have a very good chance of prevailing in the 5th Circuit.”

A win at that level would be even more significant than Wednesday’s ruling, Johnson said, because it would indicate a split in appellate rulings, which is often a precursor to a case coming before the Supreme Court.

This case, Robicheaux v. Caldwell, could be the case that finally forces the Supreme Court to rule once and for all, he said.
