The fifth season of CBS’s Madam Secretary premieres this Sunday. The show features bisexual characters Blake Moran and Kat Sandoval, the latter played by out actress and advocate Sara Ramirez. In the season five opener, in the aftermath of a deadly attack on the White House, Elizabeth tries to keep a major nuclear disarmament deal from falling apart while a manhunt for the attackers brings D.C. to a halt. For advice, Elizabeth turns to former secretaries of state Madeleine Albright, Hillary Clinton and Colin Powell. Madam Secretary: Sunday, 10pm on CBS.
The CW’s Black Lightning will begin to air its second season on Tuesday on The CW. The superhero show, which follows the Pierce super powered family, is notable for having a prominent Black lesbian superhero, Thunder (Anissa Pierce). In the season two premiere, the school board considers a motion to shut down the school, forcing Jefferson to go to Napier Frank to sway the vote. Jennifer struggles with her powers and her actions have unforeseen repercussions. Meanwhile, Anissa finds a new way to give back to Freeland. Lastly, Lynn continues her quest much to the dismay of Agent Odell. Black Lightning: Tuesday, 9pm on The CW.
The fourth and final season of musical dramedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend premieres on Friday. The show features several queer characters in the main cast, including bi lawyer Darryl, his ex-boyfriend “White Josh,” and Valencia, who began dating a woman last season. In the Season 4 premiere, Rebecca confronts the consequences of her guilty plea, while Nathaniel seeks solace in a retreat. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Friday, 9pm on The CW.
