Must See LGBTQ TV: Don’t miss the 2017 MTV VMAs, and a special episode of ‘The Bold Type”

This Sunday, MTV will air their 2017 Video Music awards. This is the first year that MTV made all the categories for the VMAs gender neutral, as opposed to separating them into male and female categories. Nominees for videos from LGBTQ artists include rapper Young M.A. for Best New Artist, Fifth Harmony for Best Pop and Best Choreography, Sia for Best Choreography, Halsey for Best Cinematography, and Miley Cyrus for Best Pop. 2017 Video Music Awards: Sunday, 8pm on MTV.
Tuesday’s episode of Freeform’s The Bold Type “Before Tequila Sunrise” heavily features the relationship between Kat (Aisha Dee) and Adena (Nikohl Boosheri) as the two spend a romantic 10 hours in the airport with before Adena is sent back to her home country. Out queer Muslim activist Blair Imani wrote a piece for GLAAD about what this storyline means for queer Muslim women and her own personal journey.
