Must-See LGBTQ TV: ‘Boomerang’ premiere and Grammy Awards

The 61st Annual Grammy Awards will take place this Sunday, with several outstanding LGBTQ artists among the nominees. GLAAD Media Award-nominated artists Janelle Monae, Brandi Carlile, and SOPHIE are nominated, with Monae and Carlile performing on the show as well. Behind the scenes LGBTQ nominees include songwriters Teddy Geiger, Sarah Aarons, and Shane McAnally, producer Linda Perry and more. The Lena Waithe- executive produced series Boomerang premieres on BET this Tuesday. Following the children of the characters of the original film, the series is showrun by out writer/producer Ben Cory Jones. The show includes the characters of Rocky, a lesbian who is very protective over her girlfriend Tia and her career; Ari, who is a queer man; and Tia, a misguided performance artist with high ambitions. She is a classically trained dancer who wants to topple the patriarchy. Boomerang: Thursday, 10pm on BET.
