LGBT stars and inclusive series win at the 73rd Golden Globes

The 73rd Annual Golden Globes aired tonight and several LGBT stars, characters, and inclusive stories took home awards.

The Amazon original series Mozart in the Jungle took home the award in Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy. The series follows the members of the New York Symphony, including bisexual cellist Cynthia (Saffron Burrows) who in the second season becomes involved with a union lawyer, Nina, who is helping the symphony negotiate new contracts. USA’s LGBT-inclusive freshman series Mr. Robot won the Golden Globe in Best Television Series – Drama. Bisexual singer and actress Lady Gaga picked up the award in Best Performance by an Actress in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her work as The Countess in Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Hotel. Out singer Sam Smith picked up the award in Best Original Song – Motion Picture for his song “Writing’s On the Wall” from the new James Bond film Spectre.
