It’s Membership Month: Celebrate HRC Membership Pride
In honor of National LGBTQ Pride Month, HRC wants to celebrate our pride and admiration for those who helped us make history — whether by standing up to bigoted politicians, raising their voice in support of full equality or lending a hand to help those in need: HRC members.
Since HRC was founded in 1980, our members have stood by our side and weathered the storms — from the institution and repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to the discriminatory passage and court decision invalidating the Defense of Marriage Act — to see our movement grow and expand across the nation.
As a nation and as an organization, we would not be able to bear witness to the amazing milestones we have achieved in the past three decades without our fiercely loyal members, who continue to spring into action at a moment’s notice to defend LGBTQ equality.
Thanks to you, in 2016 HRC has already…
- Prevented more than 170 anti-LGBTQ state bills from becoming law, working with state and local partners
- Sent nearly 300,000 messages to lawmakers across the country
- Enlisted more than 200 major business leaders to speak out in support of LGBTQ equality
