Introducing Topics: A new way to personalize your OkCupid connections
Make new connections based on what matters to you
Today we’re excited to introduce Topics, a brand-new way you can personalize your connections and meet new people based on what matters to you. You can now choose from 30 topics — from Travel to Comics — to match with people who are into the same things you are.
The next time you open OkCupid head to your profile to go through the simple process of adding your first Topic. Here’s how it works:
- Find Topics located at the bottom of your profile
- Choose the topics that matter to you
- Select the topic you want to share more about first
- Pick a prompt
- Share your answer to that prompt
- Add a photo! It’s not required, but you know the people want to see that pic of your dog.
- Repeat! Write about another topic that matters to you for more things to match on.
Boom. Done. Easy.
Once you fill out at least one topic you’ll be able to find your new personalized matches in Discover — and they’ll be able to find you! SPOILER ALERT: You might see Travel, Music, Movies, or TV Shows come up pretty quickly. So far they’re the most popular Topics because, let’s face it, we all love #wanderlust and consuming media at a breakneck pace.
These topics will also live on your profile, underneath your other essays — you can add new topics, choose new prompts, and update your responses whenever you’d like.
After you’ve added your topics you can also enter our #MatchOnWhatMatters contest to win $500! Here’s another instructional list to let you know how it works:
- Add at least one Topic to your OkCupid profile and write your response
- Take a screenshot of the best Topic on your profile
- Post the screenshot to Instagram or Twitter using #MatchOnWhatMatters, #MyOkCupidProfile, #contest and tag @OkCupid.
- We’ll choose one lucky winner to take home $500!
What are you waiting for? Go fill out your first Topic and find someone whose go-to karaoke song is also “Total Eclipse of the Heart”.
Match over what matters to you on OkCupid right now.
