Hillary Clinton Makes History as First Woman to Claim Democratic Presidential Nomination: WATCH

Hillary Clinton

Telling a crowd in Brooklyn, NY, “we are all standing under a glass ceiling right now,” Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic nomination for President.

“Thanks to you we’ve reached a milestone,” said Clinton to a thunderous crowd.”[It’s the] first time in our nation’s history that a woman will be a major party’s nominee.”

Clinton spoke as results from primaries in six states unfolded. She was declared the winner in New Jersey’s and led Bernie Sanders, who won North Dakota, in South Dakota, New Mexico, and Montana. Polls had yet to close in California.

Clinton also took aim at her Republican opponent: “Donald Trump is temperamentally unfit to be president and commander in chief”

She congratulated Bernie Sanders on his campaign and spoke about her mother, who was born on the day the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, passed the Senate.

“I wish my mother could be here…I wish she could see her daughter become the Democratic nominee.”
