Georgia man sentenced to life in prison in brutal kiling of gay man

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison plus 25 years in the fatal beating of a gay man as part of a gang initiation.

Darrius Aderhold pleaded guilty to killing 46-year-old Robert Ross in 2012.

Prosecutors told the court they believe Aderhold and two other men Jonathan Ray and Christopher Foreman lured Ross to a motel room in Tucker, DeKalb County, according to media reports.

In the room, Ross was tied to a chair and was beaten so badly that his skull was fractured and almost every bone in his face was broken.

The court heard that the victim’s body so mutilated that paramedics couldn’t determine his sex or race.

The beating is said to be part of Foreman’s gang initiation and the victim was targeted because they perceived him to be a gay man, said prosecutors.

Foreman and Ray had previously been sentenced to life in prison after accepting plea deals, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
