DVD: “The Maze Runner,” “The Skeleton Twins,” “First Comes Love,” & More!
The holiday countdown continues, and we’ve got stuffing stockers in the home entertainment department, from an amazing indie drama starring SNL‘s Bill Hader as the gay brother to Kristen Wiig, The Skeleton Twins (above), to a first installment in the latest YA dystopian future franchise, The Maze Runner.

($24.99 Blu-ray, $19.98 DVD; Lionsgate)
Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig play estranged siblings that reunite following a failed double-suicide attempt in this Sundance Film Festival award-winning dramedy. While sorting out his sibling issues, Hader’s gay wannabe actor character, Milo, decides to try and reconnect with his first love, Rich (Ty Burrell), a married-with-children teacher he had an affair with while underage. The extras reveal some of the laughs had by Wiig and Hader in a making-of featurette, gag reel, outtakes, and a collection of deleted scenes that includes a gay lip-lock between Hader and Burrell.

This latest YA dystopian fantasy franchise – enough already, Hollywood! – sees a group of young men trapped together, with the only way of possible escape being through a deadly maze populated by scary monsters. Of course, a plucky new Katniss… ahem, arrival, Thomas, may be the one to lead the way out. Patricia Clarkson appears as the franchise’s token adult-actress-of-stature. Extras include a commentary, deleted scenes, a gag reel, and featurettes.

This week sees the release of four gay indie films from director Jay London, including this long unavailable 2008 romance about a pair of teenage lovers who reunite almost two decades after being separated to discover a connection may still exist between them.
