It was years ago that he couldn’t stand it any longer. The screaming, the ranting, the emotional and physical abuses, the endless “OFF WITH THEIR HEADS”… It was too much. She… was too much.
It was time for a final solution. Plots were planned. Allies gathered. A fondness for fine gold-flaked tarts among the Court and Cards was exploited. Some agreed to simply look the other way – others agreed to directly assist in the coup in exchange for a morsel of promised power.
Within a fortnight, it was Her head that rolled. In the chaos and confusion to follow, the previously soft-spoken King stepped forward. Looking back on those tumultuous days, the most common musing is that everyone had forgotten what life was like without Her incessant shouting.
His darkness is different. Subtle. Cunning. And yet He is fair in His rule. His frequent ‘midnight teatimes’ with the Hatter are whispered about… but in this and other things these many years later, none dare cross Him. There is a peace in Wonderland like never before. And one thing has been proven, once and for all:
The meek shall always inherit.
