OkCupid releases the “I’m Vaccinated” profile badge & stack so daters can feel safe meeting in person
It’s officially the summer of love. After over a year of social distancing and virtual meetups, daters are ready to meet in person, and there’s a newfound emphasis on wanting to do so in a way that is safe for themselves and others. That’s why on Monday, May 24 OkCupid is proud to release the “I’m Vaccinated” profile badge for all daters who report that they’ve had at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccination. Everyone who adds the badge to their profile in the first 48 hours will receive a free Boost, and all who add the badge will also be featured in the Vaccinated Stack, which will be released later in June. Those who do not yet have the vaccine will be given resources and information on where to find one when available.
Daters today are more transparent about their health and wellness than ever, particularly when it comes to their vaccination status. The phrase “I’m vaccinated” on OkCupid profiles increased over 1,400% this month compared to January. And the vaccine is really helping people find love. More than 7 in 10 daters say they will get the Covid-19 vaccine, and those who are planning to get it or already have are getting 15% more likes and 14% more matches, and having 4.5% more conversations.
As the vaccine continues to roll out around the world, we anticipate in-person dates increasing significantly. In fact, only 7% of singles on OkCupid today say they’re not comfortable with in-person dating. And while virtual dating certainly has its perks, we expect IRL dates will also lead to more lasting connections; over half of OkCupid daters agreed that an in-person date was more meaningful than a virtual one.
If you need date ideas for your first in-person date in some time, you can look to OkCupid data! Over a third of OkCupid users reported their ideal post-pandemic date is anything outdoors; this was the most popular choice, followed by coffee and drinks, dinner or a movie, or hanging out at someone’s home.
“I’m Vaccinated” badge based solely upon user self-reporting. OkCupid does not independently verify or endorse that users with this badge actually received a vaccination or are medically safe, nor does OkCupid guarantee users will not contract or be a carrier of the COVID-19 virus. Please follow all safety guidelines issued by medical and government organizations. User may opt out of the badge at any time.

4 Healthy Ways to Bounce Back After a Breakup (No Rebound Included)
No matter what we tell ourselves, breakups are never easy. Feelings have been hurt, questions and doubts keep haunting us. There are holes in our weekly schedule that need filling,…
If you’re new here, welcome! You might have noticed a lot of our posts over the past month have been focused on tips and tricks around how to use Plenty…
Every month we will be sharing the latest OkCupid matching questions and responses, showing what’s top of mind for our millions and millions of daters around the world. Our newest questions are about post-pandemic dating behaviors, and they’ve already gotten nearly 200,000 responses from our users. These new questions tell us the attitudes and behaviors of daters in a post-pandemic world.
Activity on OkCupid also alerts us to new dating trends. One trend we saw sparked by the pandemic was that women in particular became more invested in online dating. At the beginning of the pandemic, activity and engagement increased among women. They were sending more first messages than they were previously, and that has continued post-pandemic. And now, it’s showing to have paid off: conversations initiated by women on OkCupid tend to last more than double the length of those started by men.
What we’re asking:
What would you like to do first after the pandemic?
What’s your ideal first post-pandemic date?
Has your attitude towards committed relationships changed because of the pandemic?
Has the pandemic changed your thoughts on what age you want to settle down?
What are you most looking forward to about dating IRL again?
Which “first” are you most nervous about after the pandemic?
What you’re saying:
4 in 10 singles are looking forward to traveling after the pandemic, more than hanging out with friends, going on dates, and visiting family
After a year stuck at home, 36% of people on OkCupid said they’re ideal post-pandemic date is anything outdoors. This was the most popular choice, followed by coffee and drinks, dinner or a movie, or hanging out at someone’s home
8 in 10 (84%) OkCupid daters are looking for a steady partner after the pandemic, with 27% of those people having changed their mind due to last year’s experiences
People are 2X more likely to say the pandemic has made them want to settle down sooner, rather than later, than they thought
55% of people on OkCupid are most looking forward to meeting new people with similar interests, 27% are excited about being intimate again IRL, 11% are looking forward to getting all dressed up, and 7% are happy about never having to video date again
As the world reopens, people are 2X more likely to be nervous for a first date versus the first time they sleep with someone

OkCupid releases first-ever Climate Change Advocate Badge & Stack as data reveals it’s a leading issue to millennial daters
Daters on OkCupid have long been vocal about finding matches who share their beliefs and values, particularly when it comes to the causes they care about. In 2020, we found that people on OkCupid were passionate about matching with fellow daters who were registered to vote, and support the BLM movement. And so far in 2021, our data shows that OkCupid daters are hot for climate change advocates. In fact, nine in 10 daters on OkCupid say it is important to them that their match cares about the environment. So to help our users find the perfect, environmentally-conscious match, we’ve released our first-ever global Climate Change Advocate Profile Badge and Stack.
For all of Earth Month, every person on OkCupid who responds ‘Yes’ to the OkCupid question ‘Are you concerned about climate change & want a profile badge to show it’s important to you?’will get the Climate Change Advocate badge automatically added to their profile. And better yet, they will be featured in the Climate Change Stack so fellow earth-lovers can easily find them and match over their shared care for the planet. Best yet? For every person who adds the badge to their profile, we’re donating $1 to EARTHDAY.ORG, an amazing global organization growing out of the first Earth Day in 1970 that’s the world’s largest recruiter to the environmental movement.*
*Up to $25,000.
Daters Are Hotter for Climate Change Advocates Than Ever Before
Over the past four years, there’s been an over 450% increase in mentions of climate change and the environment on OkCupid profiles, and we anticipate that trend will continue as daters are becoming increasingly adamant about signaling to others what’s important to them. And these days, it’s definitely climate change. After all, the environment is one of the most popular question topics we have, with our questions on climate change and the environment garnering 7.5M responses worldwide.
Eighty-three percent of people on OkCupid are concerned about climate change, and so it’s not surprising that only 7% of OkCupid daters say they ‘rarely’ or ‘never’ recycle. Even their do-good-ing does not go to waste; people on OkCupid who are concerned about climate change get 37% more likes and 11% more matches than those who are not. We anticipate that the introduction of our Climate Change Advocate Badge and Stack will further increase likes and matches for these daters, potentially up to 4x.
Men and Women Are More Aligned about Climate Change Than Any Other Issue
Our data often reveals steep divides between men and women’s views on a variety of topics, but climate change is one where men and women are closely aligned. Women get the gold green star when it comes to caring about the planet, but men are not far behind, with 89% of women and 83% of men responding ‘Yes’ to ‘Is it important that your match cares about the environment?’ This 6% divide is one of the closest between the genders of any OkCupid questions, whether the topic is light or more serious. For example, when it comes to gun control reform, women are 18% more likely than men to believe the US needs stricter laws and there’s a 15% difference between genders on willingness to date someone who doesn’t support gender equality, with women being significantly less likely. Paying extra for guacamole is even more divisive than caring about climate change, as women are 8% more likely to do so.
What It Means When Your Date is a Climate Change Advocate
OkCupid daters want to know how someone feels about climate change before they match, and our Climate Change Advocate Badge and Stack means that they can. But we found that having the Climate Change Advocate Badge on your profile reveals more than just your respect for the planet. Our OkCupid data reveals that, compared to those who aren’t, daters who are concerned about climate change are:
26% more likely to want to get the Covid vaccine
12% more likely to think a sense of humor in a match is very important
14% more likely to pay extra for guac
400% more likely to consider themselves a feminist
