Bud Light celebrates marriage equality in new TV spot
Bud Light
Bud Light today debuted the latest ad in the company’s Bud Light Party series starring Seth Rogan and Amy Schumer. The spot first aired during The Ellen Degeneres Show and humorously points out how weddings for same-sex couples are just like any other wedding.
“The Bud Light Party champions inclusivity among modern beer drinkers and bringing people together—for fun—over a beer. By featuring Seth and Amy at a same-sex wedding, we’re showing how all weddings – regardless of who is getting married – share many similarities and moments to celebrate. We created this spot because equality for all Americans is a concept that unites many Bud Light drinkers,” said Alex Lambrecht, Vice President, Bud Light at Anheuser-Busch.
“Bud Light has long been a staunch supporter of the LGBT community,” said Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD President & CEO. “This spot is the latest in a long line of inclusive advertising that will help increase understanding and accelerate LGBT acceptance. GLAAD has been honored to partner with Bud Light for 18 years.”
Bud Light’s history of LGBT-inclusive advertising began in 1995 with a print ad. That same year, Anheuser-Busch and its local wholesalers also pledged to donate a portion of all Bud Light sales to support AIDS-related non-profit organizations in local communities.
The ad marks the first day of LGBT Pride Month, which is especially historic this year as we celebrate the Supreme Court’s historic ruling that made marriage equality the law of the land.
