Boxer Turned Porn Star Yusaf Mack On Life Out Of The Ring And The Closet
You might remember the strange outing of Yusaf Mack. The Philadelphia pro-boxer appeared in a gay porn, but claimed that he’d done so against his will — he was drugged! But then he backtracked and said that there was no coercion after all, and he’s just plain old bi. And then he dropped another bombshell. He’s not bi at all–he’s full-blown gay, and showed off some pretty gay photos.

Yusaf seems to be settling a little more comfortably into his role as an openly gay performer these days, and is appearing in some new scenes with the Reality Dudes Network. Specifically, he’s working under the umbrella of Reality Thugs, a title which he addressed in a recent interview with Gawker. He’s also partnering with Cash Models, a cam site.

Queerty caught up with Yusaf recently to talk about his career. He’s a man of few words — in other interviews, he said that his time as a boxer has affected his ability to speak — but he was still able to shed some light on his experiences over the last few months.
What kept you in the closet for so long?
Boxing and the kids.
Did you ever do anything gay before coming out?
Nope.
Why did you initially say you’d been drugged?
I was ashamed.
What changed your mind after that?
Just being real with myself. I was tired of lying.
What did you say when you finally came out to your family?
I told them who I am.
How has your family reacted to the news?
They said we still love you. Whatever you’re into, that’s you.
How have other boxers reacted?
They shy away from me. Treat me different.
They’re not happy about it?
Friends and people who love me turned on me.
Did you hear from other gay athletes after you came out?
No.
Have you had a chance to date men since coming out?
No.
Are you going to?
No, the business I’m in, when I’m on camera, I do what I do for business. When I’m not in front of the camera, I’m a single dad.
In an interview a few years ago, you said “my interest is trannies” — did you hear from anyone who objected to that word?
No, not really. In the interview, I was like, I was sorry for not using the word trans. I have nothing against nobody.
Are you still boxing?
I gave that up.
Do you like the new porn you’re doing?
I love it. Hopefully I’ll be able to take care of my family. I wanna go long range with this.
Do you get recognized in public for being a boxer or for the porn or for both?
From boxing, “you’re the boxer who was in that porn.”
Do you have advice for other gay athletes?
If you didn’t come out yet, come out to your family. They’re going to accept you or reject you. The only thing you can do as a person is be you. Friends and family, they’re going to love you for who you are. Gay or straight, they’re going to love you.
How do you like working with Cash Models?
All the way baby. I love working with them. Hopefully I plan on going to the top.
How about Reality Dudes?
I love all of it. I’m willing to work with everybody. I’m going to the top. All the way up to the top.
