TODAY — HEARINGS BEGIN FOR BRETT KAVANAUGH. WHAT’S AT STAKE AT THE SUPREME COURT: This morning, leaders from HRC, NARAL, National Women’s Law Center, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY) and others joined a press call opposing Trump-Pence SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh. “Make no mistake, in nominating Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, Donald Trump has picked someone he fully expects to do his bidding in gutting protections for those with pre-existing conditions and in ripping health care away from millions, from women to LGBTQ people to those living with HIV,” said HRC National Press Secretary Sarah McBride (@SarahEMcBride). “The American people cannot afford for senators to pretend that Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination is anything short of a direct threat on our access to health care, on our rights, and on our progress.” For more information on the call, including McBride’s full remarks, contact [email protected].
- The White House has withheld more than 100,000 pages of Kavanaugh’s records. More from Sheryl Gay Stolberg (@SherylNYT) at The New York Times.
- HRC joined a chorus of voices opposing Brett Kavanaugh in a letter from The Leadership Conference.
What we do know of Kavanaugh’s record makes clear that he is a threat to LGBTQ rights, civil rights, reproductive freedom, and access to affordable health care. @HRC joins with our partners and Americans across the country in demanding the Senate #SaveSCOTUS and #StopKavanaugh.
