LGBTQ AND CIVIL RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS MARCH TO WHITE HOUSE TO OPPOSE TRUMP-PENCE PLAN TO ERASE NON-DISCRIM PROTECTIONS FOR LGBTQ PEOPLE: The march was organized in response to an explosive New York Times report that the Trump-Pence Administration intends to redefine “sex” to intentionally exclude LGBTQ people and their families from non-discrimination protections. According to the report, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is planning to release regulations narrowly defining “sex” in an anti-transgender way that guts enforcement of existing civil rights protections for LGBTQ people. More from HRC, Washington Blade, WUSA, Bustle, Politico and NPR.

  • WATCH: HRC and coalition partners hold press conference in response to the announcement that the Trump-Pence administration intends to redefine “sex” to intentionally exclude LGBTQ people and their families from non-discrimination protections. More from HRC.
  • Trump never cared about the LGBTQ community: When asked about this disgusting erasure, Trump said: “We’re looking at it. We have a lot of different concepts right now. They have a lot of different things happening with respect to transgender right now. You know that as well as I do and we’re looking at it very seriously.”

6/6 We can’t let this direct attack on our fundamental equality go quietly into practice. Tell this administration to reverse course and stop its senseless attacks on our community — add your name and join us. We #WontBeErased. t.co/jLvhYuR14c pic.twitter.com/dHscodQwsB

TUESDAY TWEET: In a powerful must-read, Jenny Boylan (@JennyBoylan) writes of the Trump-Pence Administration plot to redefine “sex” to intentionally exclude LGBTQ people and their families from non-discrimination protections, “Redefining us won’t make us go away. It won’t restore your world to its precious, boring binary — which, I hate to tell you, never existed in the first place. All it will do is make people suffer.” More from The New York Times.
