WHAT WE’RE READING WEDNESDAY — TODAY IS THE 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BISEXUAL PRIDE FLAG: Twenty years ago, designer Michael Page unveiled the first bisexual pride flag of pink, purple, and blue, giving bisexual people — who make up half of the LGBTQ community — added visibility at Prides. KANSAS MAKES HISTORY — FIRST OPENLY LGBTQ REPS IN CONGRESS AND STATE LEGISLATURE; GOV. PROMISES ACTION ON NON-DISCRIMINATION PROTECTIONS: Next month, Kansas will swear in Democrat Sharice Davids, the nation’s first openly gay Native American in Congress and the state’s first openly LGBTQ person representing Kansas in Congress, and Democratic state Reps. Susan Ruiz and Brandon Woodard, its first two openly LGBTQ state lawmakers.
