“WELCOME, MAEVE” — THE NYTIMES ON MAEVE DUVALLY’S EXPERIENCE TRANSITIONING AT GOLDMAN SACHS: When DuVally became only the second person at the company to formally transition, she “imagined that her transition would be a binary thing — that a switch would be flipped,” writes NY Times’ reporter Emily Flitter (@FlitterOnFraud. Instead, news leaked out slowly. “Everyone seemed to be focusing more on clothes, nails, hair and the other aspects of the traditional female corporate uniform than they might have on a less consequential day,” Flitter writes. “It didn’t read as shallow; it was just the easiest way to connect with Ms. DuVally, to convey warmth and support.” Said DVally: “I’ve been hugging a lot of people. CRACKER BARREL CEO SANDRA COCHRAN “LEADS CHARGE FOR CHAIN’S RACIAL, LGBTQ INCLUSIVITY,” REPORTS KNOXVILLE NEWS SENTINEL: The chain’s recent refusal to allow an anti-LGBTQ pastor to hold a meeting in one of its restaurants has focused a spotlight on the company’s turnaround on equality issues under Cochran. “The restaurant chain’s scores on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index have more than doubled, increasing from a score of 35 when Cochran joined the company to a score of 80 this year,” reports Brittany Crocker (@BrittCrocker). “In 2008, the company’s score was 15.” Read more at the Knoxville News Sentinel.
- “Dollars flow as diversity grows,” says the Knoxville News Sentinel, noting that, under Cochran, Cracker Barrel’s stock “has skyrocketed from about $40 a share to around $170, an increase of about 325%.” And it has opened 31 new stores in the past five years. Read more here.
