HYPOCRISY ALERT — MIKE PENCE DELIVERS REMARKS FOR WORLD AIDS DAY: Pence has spent his career putting people in danger by denying them access to HIV prevention and treatment. From spreading misinformation about condom use, to contributing to a major outbreak of HIV and AIDS in Indiana, Pence has been reckless with the health and lives of those he has sworn to serve. The Trump-Pence administration said it was committed to ending the HIV epidemic, but redirected millions of crucial funds for HIV treatment and cancer research to fund their unconscionable family separation policy. And last December, Trump & Pence fired all remaining members of the President”s Advisory Council on HIV and AIDS — and have left the council vacant since. Get the story behind The Real Mike Pence from HRC. More from Independent Journal Review.

.@mike_pence marking #WorldAIDSDay right now is truly the height of hypocrisy. From spreading misinformation about condom use, to contributing to a major outbreak of HIV & AIDS in his home state, Pence has put ideology before the health & lives of countless people. #RealMikePence

AS NATIONAL ADOPTION MONTH COMES TO A CLOSE, IT’S TIME TO PUT LOVE FIRST: There are more than 100,000 children across the U. S. waiting to be adopted. Yet, the fight to allow qualified LGBTQ parents to adopt children desperately in need of loving, safe, supportive homes is still being waged. Writes HRC Foundation Director of the Children, Youth & Families Program Ellen Kahn, “As a lesbian mom, I know that my ability to be a loving, supportive parent is not at all compromised by my identity. And as a social worker, who has counseled so many LGBTQ families through this process, I’ve seen the amazing, transformational results for both the children and parents.” More from Openly.

MEET THE FORMER 4-H DIRECTOR WHO FOUGHT TO KEEP LGBTQ-INCLUSVIE GUIDANCE, AND LOST HIS JOB: Last week, news broke that the Trump-Pence White House and USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue are attacking LGBTQ youth by pressuring the national 4-H youth organization to rescind a policy welcoming LGBTQ participants. The move, made by Heidi Green, then chief-of-staff to USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue, eventually led to the firing of Iowa 4-H Director John-Paul Chaisson-Cárdenas for vigorously defending the LGBTQ-inclusive policy. Chaisson-Cardenas is the first statewide Latino director in the organization’s history. More from Samantha Allen (@SLAwrites) in The Daily Beast.
