47th VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN TO HEADLINE HRC’S 22ND ANNUAL NATIONAL DINNER: “From his earliest days in the U.S. Senate to his eight years as vice president, Joe Biden has been a bold and tireless champion of equality. ONE YEAR AFTER TRUMP GAVE ORDER TO DISCRIMINATE AGAINST DREAMERS, WE NEED ACTION: “It makes no sense why the Trump-Pence White House would continue to attempt to terminate a program that helps young people live productive lives and makes our country stronger,” said HRC Government Affairs Director David Stacy. “We have arrived at this point because Donald Trump and Mike Pence have spent the past 20 months fanning the flames of anti-immigrant sentiment , further dividing the American people and harming more than a million Dreamers, including 75,000 LGBTQ young people.” More from HRC.
HEARINGS CONTINUE FOR ANTI-LGBTQ SCOTUS NOM BRETT KAVANAUGH: During yesterday’s hearing, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) highlighted his support for the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), which could grant businesses a license to discriminate against LGBTQ people. Kavanaugh’s record indicates that he, too, supports such discriminatory application of the law. Also during the hearing, Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) pointed out the dangers Kavanaugh’s confirmation poses for reproductive rights. More from Vox and PBS.

A record number of LGBTQ candidates are running for office. And the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has significantly expanded its grassroots activity in an effort to ‘pull the emergency brake on the Trump-Pence administration’s hate-fueled agenda.’” More from USA Today.
HRC MOURNS DEJANAY STANTON, A TRANS WOMAN KILLED IN CHICAGO: Stanton, 24, was found with a gunshot wound to her head and transported to Stroger Hospital where she was pronounced dead. “Every time you saw her she had a smile on her face,” said LaSaia Wade, executive director of Brave Space Alliance. “She was just trying to live her best life as a young girl.” More from HRC and Chicago Sun Times.
