MAJOR EDITORIAL BOARDS IN MAINE CALL ON GOV. LEPAGE TO SIGN BILL PROTECTING YOUTH FROM SO-CALLED “CONVERSION THERAPY”: “Same-sex attraction is not something that needs to be cured. TUESDAY TWEET — TREASURE TROVE OF LGBTQ HISTORY DISCOVERED IN LONDON ATTIC: Two bags containing historic LGBTQ and activist pins, comics and a manuscript helped Gavin McGregor uncover the life and activism of Paud Hegarty. THE DAILY BEAST REPORTS ON THE EPIDEMIC OF ANTI-TRANS VIOLENCE: Samantha Allen (@SLAwrites) reports on the violence documented so far this year, including a recent wave in Jacksonville, Florida, where three transgender women of color have been shot dead, and a fourth injured. Cathalina Christina James, 24, and Keisha Wells, 58, were fatally shot on June 24, in Jacksonville and Cleveland respectively; Antash’a English and Celine Walker were killed earlier this year in Jacksonville.   • Jacksonville police on Monday arrested Cory Deshaun Fisher-Thompson in connection with the shooting and wounding a 23-year-old transgender woman on June 8.  Fisher-Thompson is being held on $1.1 million bail and is also charged with charged with possession of a weapon or ammunition by a felon and marijuana possession. POWERFUL PHOTO SERIES FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES  ON LGBTQ PRIDE IN ALABAMA: Rebecca Lieberman and Annie Flanagan traveled throughout Alabama to document the varied experiences of the local LGBTQ community. While bigger cities like Birmingham have lively LGBTQ communities, LGBTQ people in smaller Alabama towns are finding community and acceptance in unexpected places. Read the full piece from NYT.
