Vocalists are warmed up and the stage is set for the 2016 American Music Awards, airing live on ABC Sunday evening beginning at 8-11pm ET. In prep for the 44th annual gala, a special red carpet pre-show will live stream on the AMAs official website. Hosting the AMAs are model Gigi Madid and former SNL actor Jay Pharoah. Already confirmed to perform are: Lady Gaga, Green Day, John Legend, Justin Bieber and Bruno Mars. Sting is being honored with the American Music Award of Merit, and will also perform. Nominee Selena Gomez is rumored to take the stage, as are other major musical celebs.
One artist who is an odds-on favorite to take home an award is Drake. Having earned a record breaking 13 AMA nominations this year, you’d have to go back over three decades for the next highest total with Michael Jackson garnering 11 noms in 1984. Among the many other nominations, he is up for Best Male Artist-Pop/Rock, Favorite Album-Pop/Rock for “Views”, and Favorite Artist and Album in the Rap/Hip-Hop Categories.
Within ABC’s new series Designated Survivor, Kiefer Sutherland stars as Tom Kirkman, a lower-level cabinet member who is suddenly appointed President of the United States after a catastrophic attack on the US Capitol during the State of the Union. Wednesday evening on ABC, listen from the real designated survivors and find out just how close we came to ever needing them to step into the role of leader of the free world on Real Designated Survivor: A Special Edition of 20/20.
Relax after your Thanksgiving meal by joining Emmy Award-winners Julianne and Derek Hough (Dancing with the Stars) as they host The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration, a magical two-hour special live from Walt Disney World Resort. Musical performances scheduled to appear include: Kelly Clarkson, Boyz II Men, Alessia Cara, and married-duo Trisha Yearwood and Garth Brooks performing “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” “Ugly Christmas Sweater” and “Marshmallow World”.
