Notorious Manager of *NSYNC And Backstreet Boys Dies In Prison
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, the infamous Svengali behind ’90s boy bands *NSYNC and Backstreet Boys has died in prison.

As CNN reports, 62-year-old Lou Pearlman passed away Friday at a Miami hospital following an illness.

Pearlman had been serving a 25-year sentence for orchestrating various Ponzi and bank schemes, crimes he was convicted of back in 2008. Before getting caught, Pearlman had managed to bilk investors out of $300 million before getting caught.

The cause of death was announced as an “ongoing cardiac problem,” according to Rolling Stone.

“He literally revolutionized the world of pop music,” said Mark NeJame, the lawyer who represented Pearlman for many years.
“[He] had a horrible dark side that eventually overshadowed his talents.”
