The GLAAD Wrap: Batwoman makes her screen debut; videos from Halsey and Matt Doyle; and more!

DC’s Batwoman, who came out as a lesbian in the comics 10 years ago, is finally going to be featured on screen. Batwoman, aka Kate Kane, is a main character in Batman: Bad Blood, which DC released direct to DVD, Blu-ray and iTunes. This is the first time the character of Kate and her sexuality will be on screen, and hopefully she will keep appearing in the DC cinematic universe.
Out actress/writer/comedian Cameron Esposito has teamed up with You’re the Worst creator Stephen Falk for a new FX comedy. The story, based on Esposito’s life, will follow two sisters, one gay and one straight, as they deal with 2016’s hurdles. The show is in development at FX and will explore issues of gender and sexuality if picked up by the network.
Amazon has ordered another pilot from Transparent creator Jill Soloway. The comedy, I Love Dick, is based on the book by Chris Kraus, and stars Katheryn Hahn as half of a married couple that becomes obsessed with a professor named Dick. Transparent, nominated for a GLAAD Media Award, has been one of Amazon’s most successful original shows, so it only makes sense for this partnership with Soloway to continue.
The CW’s musical/comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend revealed on Monday that Darryl Whitefeather (Pete Gardner), one of the series regulars, is bisexual. He shared a kiss with the recurring character of “White Josh” (David Hull) at the end of the episode, after proudly declaring himself “bothsexual.” This revelation promises to further explore the romance between the two men.
Out actress Caitlin Stasey, known for her work on Reign and the GLAAD Media Award nominated Please Like Me, has been cast in A.P.B., a drama pilot from Fox. In other TV news, NBC has renewed their freshman comedy Superstore for a second season. The show revolves around employees of a chain superstore, and includes the out character of Mateo (Nico Santos).
On Wednesday, out actress and comedian Kate McKinnon made an appearance on the Ellen show, identically dressed as Ellen herself. McKinnon is known for her impressions of Ellen DeGeneres, as well as Justin Bieber and Hillary Clinton, and this is her second time appearing as Ellen with Ellen. The clip has gone viral, with over 4 million views on Facebook. You can check out the clip below!

Out pop singer Halsey released the video for her single “Colors.” The song is from her debut hit album Badlands and the video features Teen Wolf’‘s Tyler Posey. This singer recently announced a summer tour as well, hitting cities across the country. Tickets are still avaible for most cities and you can check out the video below.
Matt Doyle, out Broadway star and singer, has released a music video for his single “Moment.” The video features a romance between Doyle and Pippin’s Erik Altemus. “Moment” is from Doyle’s debut and crowd-funded album Uncontrolled which drops on iTunes today. Check out the video below.
The Boy from Mushin is a documentary from filmmaker Joe Cohen, which tells the story of Bisi Alimi. Bisi came out on national television in Nigeria in 2004, and then was exiled to London. Now a prominent activist, the film follows Bisi as he returns to Nigeria for the first time in 8 years. You can check out the Kickstarter for the documentary here.
