Amazon Removes Disgusting 'Lady Boy Drag' Halloween Costume After Complaints
As far as offensive Halloween costumes go, the “Lady Boy Drag” get-up is pretty high up there.
The Adult Lady Boy Drag Fancy Dress Costume Outfit by Orion Costumes was sold on Amazon U.K. for £28.99. The costume included a black wig, sequined dress and fabric male genitalia, and was promoted as a way to “embarrass a stag or your friends and family with this tastelessly brilliant fancy dress costume.”
Reviewers complained about the objectionable costume, per Pink News, with one saying the transgender community does not need to be subject to such ridicule.
“I assume that a company of your size has an all inclusive policy of respect for all it’s staff, regardless of gender, disability, sexual orientation etc.,” one reviewer wrote. “It’s just a pity that it does not apply these standards to it’s products. This sort of rubbish drags Amazon’s name into the gutter.”
Recently, Amazon ultimately removed the costume from its site.
“All Marketplace sellers must follow our selling guidelines and those who don’t will be subject to action including potential removal of their account,” said a statement from an Amazon U.K. press representative which was sent to The Huffington Post on Tuesday. “The product in question is no longer available.”
Good riddance.
