Out counselor Glen North promises “emotions, glitter, and tears” in new Bravo series ‘Camp Getaway’

Bravo

Bravo’s latest drama-filled docuseries, “Camp Getaway,” follows a group of attractive young singles who trade in their day jobs on the weekends to become hard-partying camp counselors at a raucous, adults-only getaway.

Check out the trailer for “Camp Getaway” below:

One of the counselors is Glen North, an out musical theater performer who hopes that his many talents will both impress the campers and find him romance.

Is “Camp Getaway” essentially “Below Deck” for campers? North says that is the ultimate compliment!

“There are major similarities! Like “Below Deck,” our show is all about the stresses of working on a job and you are all living together! It is blast but there is definitely some drama that goes on behind the scenes!”

Well, this is on Bravo after all!  So are the “Camp Getaway” counselors as successful in the romance department as their “Below Deck” crew counterparts?

“I was hoping to make a connection at Camp Getaway, but some of the counselors had better luck than I did.  But there is an LGBTQ weekend on the show coming up, so you will have to check in to see how I do in the love life department!” he said.

Before joining the Bravo-lebrity ranks, North who lives in New York City, was a jack-of-all-trades. His day jobs include personal trainer, bartender, dancer, and tour guide.

“I moved to New York to be an actor, so a lot of my jobs reflect that. One of my favorites is my tour guide job and I do an LGBTQ history tour that begins and ends at Stonewall.

However, given the current pandemic and forced physical distancing, those intimate walking tours are on hold for the time being, but Glen says he has a plan to keep educating people on the city and queer culture.

“I really would love to do a virtual version of the tour. I want to find ways to make it interactive.  The tour is nothing without the community and the people who take the tour and what they add to the experience, so I want to still get people involved.”

Glenn is also hoping “Camp Getaway” brings some joy to Bravo fans who are forced to stay at home.

“People are yearning for that human connection again right now and I think people will enjoy watching our journey connecting on the show. It is going to be a lot of fun, but it is also going to have a lot of heart. There’s a lot of emotions, glitter and tears – but a nice blend of all of them,” he said.

“Camp Getaway” premieres May 4 at 10pm on Bravo.
