Home Bound

Rehab.

Rehab was a place that felt like an unwanted vacation away from her happiness, or so that’s how Eve felt. She sat in the corner of the cafeteria and dreamed about getting out, making it known how little she wanted to try. Eve wasn’t there to get better because in her eyes, there was nothing wrong with her, she just enjoyed the party. Though what Eve hadn’t fully grasped was the extent her partying had affected her, she couldn’t go a day without getting high or black out drunk and everyone knew it.

It wasn’t completely her fault, or so she told herself, it was hard to feel the pressure of success from two rich, powerful immigrant parents that started a multimillion dollar company with nothing but a dream and their love. And the world around her never let her forget it either, which only made things worse as she couldn’t even graduate from a college her parents threw a million dollars into. She was just a passenger in their world and she hated it.

The anxiety was suffocating.

And it made her stay in Rehab all the more dull because it was like everyone knew what was going on in her head. Everyone but /her/, Eve didn’t know her name but she sat a few tables away. The white streaks in her hair caught effortless attention, something Eve dreamed of but had yet to obtain. Their greeting was short and yet, Eve had never felt a connection like that before. For a short period, Rehab had meaning; it gave Eve companionship that she didn’t have on the outside. She didn’t want to leave and it scared her.

Nothing good ever lasts.

Eve’s time in rehab ended, and she was forced back to her parents where the gray haze returned. The motions were destroying her but she didn’t know how to get away from the feeling without substance. Eventually she found herself in a hospital bed awaiting another stay in Rehab. It wouldn’t be the same, it never was after meeting /her/. She sat in the corner, waiting for her release but it was longer this time.

It made her father’s visit anticipated and that’s when she was told.

“왜 그냥 모여서?” he’d whisper, god forbid anyone know there was anything but perfection happening here. “그 돈은 당신만 아프게 할 뿐이고 내 딸을 매장하고 싶지 않아요.”

Her father finally cut off but there was a freedom in that. She no longer had to abide by the same world her parents did, she could run far away. For the first time she could breathe and her first decision was to find /her/ and so she did.

Hathian was fucked but didn’t seem that bad with /her/ there.
