Vera Thomson (21) and Megan Bucur(20) out on a mid afternoon date, poor Vera made the mistake of letting her girlfriend pick her outfit, she though she was safe when Megan agreed to not pick anything skimpy or revealing. much to Vera’s chagrin, she was handed one of Megan graphic tees, and boy is it graphic.Megan donning an equally vulgar top, poor Vera’s face reddens with each strange look they get, while Megan simple giggles.

LGBT+ Flyer

I have not posted in a long, long time but I’m hoping to begin uploading more artwork again along with photos of my many adventures with my lovely romantic and travel partner. While I do have more recent projects, I have not posted this one yet and wanted to get it out for Pride Month.

This was a resource guide that I designed for a friend of mine last year while they worked under D’Veal Family and Youth Services during their MSW program.

The target audience of this flyer was LGBT+ youth. I myself have worked with many homeless LGBT+ youth and young adults as a recuperative care nurse in Los Angeles County and my experiences helped inform me on designing the theming of this flyer. I wanted to give the youth seeking help with this guide imagery to give them inspiration and pride in who they are. To do so I recreated and incorporated the art and music of various LGBT+ artists. These include the musical notes of composer John Cage, the paintings of Mickalene Thomas, the paintings of Jasper Johns, Keith Haring’s iconic figures, and the photography of Claude Cahun..
I originally intended to include a much broader scope of artists, including Chris E Vargas, Annie Leibovitz, Cy Twombly, David Hockney, Gilbert and George, Romaine Brooks, Marsden Hartley, Zanele Muholi, and Martine Gutierrez but had to scale back due to time constraints.

The original drawings are pencil and ink with some additional coloring and flair added in photoshop.
