Human Rights Campaign Endorses Sara Stapleton Barrera for Texas State Senate

Today, the Human Rights Campaign announced the endorsement of Sara Stapleton Barrera in her bid to unseat anti-equality lawmaker state Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr.

As a constitutional lawyer, Sara Stapleton Barrera has been in the trenches defending those whose constitutional rights are violated. Stapleton Barrera has seen firsthand how the system is rigged against working families, women, immigrants, the LGBTQ community and other minorities. She has committed to voting against any anti-LGBTQ legislation and also supports proactive measures like statewide nondiscrimination protections – something her opponent has long refused to do. She also is committed to protecting reproductive rights, immigrant rights and public education.

“Sara Stapleton Barrera is a true champion for the LGBTQ community,” said Rebecca Marques, Texas State Director for the Human Rights Campaign. “Time and again, Sen. Eddie Lucio has dehumanized and attacked our community. By electing Sara, Texas-27 can turn the page and work toward giving more than 850,000 LGBTQ Texans the protections they deserve – protections that 70% of Texans support. Texas deserves better than Eddie Lucio.”

“I’m honored to be endorsed by the Human Rights Campaign, and joining their effort to bring about justice to the LGBTQ community,” said Sara Stapleton Barrera. “For too long politicians like Gregg Abbott, Dan Patrick, and Senator Lucio have targeted the LGBTQ community – pitting Texans against each other. As a result, the LGBTQ community has been at the receiving end of draconian policies that undermine their humanity, and put them at higher risk of hate crimes. I look forward in working alongside the Human Rights Campaign on anti-discrimination legislation to protect Texans all across the state. “

Texas state Sen. Eddie Lucio Jr. is one of the Texas Senate’s loudest anti-LGBTQ voices. He is referred to as “Dan Patrick’s favorite Democrat” often for standing by his anti-LGBTQ and anti-choice crusades. Years after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled for marriage equality, Lucio still refers to it as “the end of the family.” During the fight around the so-called “bathroom bill,” Lucio played a key role in attacking activists, particularly transgender activists, who testified against the discriminatory bill.

In the closing weeks of the 2018 election, HRC had 17 staff on the ground organizing Equality Voters in  Texas. In the midterm elections, HRC members and supporters completed over 1,480 volunteer shifts. In the final four days of GOTV alone, our staff and volunteers knocked on over 11,300 doors. Members and supporters also sent over 52,000 text messages to voters in the final weeks with voting resources. Since 2018, we’ve helped over 1,500 Texans register to vote by mail, online, and at in-person events. HRC hosted 22 Equality Action Academy trainings to give HRC members and supporters the tools they need to take action locally in legislative advocacy and in support of pro-equality candidates.

In the 2018 midterms, HRC helped register more than 32,000 voters and recruited more than 4,200 volunteers, who worked over 8,500 shifts and clocked more than 30,000 volunteer hours. In the critical final four days of the campaign, HRC staff and volunteers in get-out-the-vote efforts alone knocked on more than 80,000 doors, and held 36,400 conversations with voters at their doors and by phone on behalf of our endorsed candidates. HRC’s unprecedented grassroots mobilization worked to recruit volunteers, mobilize constituents, register voters and grow the organization’s grassroots army in an all-out effort to pull the emergency brake on the hateful anti-LGBTQ agenda of the Trump-Pence administration and elect a Congress that would hold them accountable. In 2020, our engagement and mobilization efforts will only deepen.  HRC will have at least 45 full-time staff in seven priority states and an additional 20 staff focused on a second tier of states and districts.

P&G and Great Big Story release powerful film “They Will See You,” highlighting the history and the impact of LGBTQ images in advertising

P&G and Great Big Story release powerful film “They Will See You,” highlighting the history and the impact of LGBTQ images in advertising

P&G/Great Big Story

Today, P&G launched the film “They Will See You,” which is the third in its series with Great Big Story. In the film, LGBTQ P&G employees, members of the Trans Chorus of Los Angeles, and LGBTQ youth in Cincinnati, where P&G is headquartered, all discuss the importance of the LGBTQ visibility in media and advertising.

The film provides a first-of-its-kind look at the history of LGBTQ images in P&G advertising, from coded ads from the early 1900s to out and proud ads of today. Several distinct stories and experiences are shared, including those of different generations and backgrounds within the LGBTQ community in P&G’s home state of Ohio. All the stories share a common theme: that visibility is vital, and can change hearts and minds. The film showcases the impact that inclusion can have on local communities and how global brands can increase the visibility of marginalized people everywhere.

P&G and Great Big Story premiered the film yesterday during a virtual event hosted by CNN Worldwide anchor Kate Bolduan, and featuring P&G Chief Brand Officer Marc Pritchard, P&G Global LGBTQ+ Equality Program Leader Brent Miller, and GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis.

“They Will See You” is a complement to last year’s “Out of the Shadows” and 2018’s “The Words Matter,” both of which have received widespread attention for their transparent portrayal of P&G’s evolution of including LGBTQ employees and consumers. These films are part of P&G’s continuing work to highlight bias, drive a meaningful discussion, and provide context to P&G’s long-standing commitment to Diversity & Inclusion.

On Wednesday, GLAAD and P&G released the findings from the first-ever “LGBTQ Inclusion in Advertising and Media” study, which measures how non-LGBTQ Americans respond to LGBTQ representation in television, films, and ads. The findings of the study demonstrate high comfortability around viewing LGBTQ images in the media, favorability towards brands with LGBTQ-inclusive advertising, and that inclusive media images lead to greater acceptance and understanding of the LGBTQ community. Check out the full study here.

Today, we released the first-ever “LGBTQ Inclusion in Advertising and Media” study in partnership with @ProcterGamble. The study measures how non-LGBTQ Americans react to LGBTQ images in film, TV, and ads. Here is a thread of the key findings. t.co/ckSbvruRPh

As part of the release of the study’s findings, GLAAD, P&G, and the Association of National Advertisers’ Alliance for Inclusive and Multicultural Marketing (AIMM) also announced that they are developing best in class practices and standards for LGBTQ inclusion and segment specific advertising and marketing. The best practices developed through this partnership will create accountability through CIIM™, the Cultural Insights Impact Measure™, which measures the cultural relevance of ads and content and their impact on sales. These standards across the industry will provide an effective framework for LGBTQ inclusion and segment specific advertising that ensures brands and companies prioritize impact, as well as accurate and authentic representation.

For more than a year, GLAAD and P&G have been strategic partners helping to drive responsible LGBTQ inclusion across the advertising industry as a force for good. In June 2019, P&G brand Pantene announced its official partnership with GLAAD through the launch of “Don’t Hate Me Because I’m BeautifuLGBTQ+” campaign, featuring a range of people within the LGBTQ community and their own unique stories of transformation. At the end of 2019, Ellen DeGeneres premiered Pantene’s “Home for the Holidays” ad, which featured members of the Trans Chorus of LA and was created in partnership with GLAAD. P&G has released some of the other most memorable LGBTQ-inclusive ads within the past year, including Gillette’s “First Shave” ad featuring a young Black transgender man shaving with his dad, showcasing a diverse group of trans people speaking about the importance of hair to them. Earlier this year, GLAAD also worked with P&G and the Ariadne Getty Foundation to bring the discussion about the importance of LGBTQ inclusion in advertising during the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos.

Le vocabulaire “dégenré” fini par dérangé
ericlanthier.net/le-vocabulaire-degenre-fini-par-derange

Schoolgirls squeal with sheer delight as they watch gay couple kiss in viral video

A video of a group of schoolgirls squealing with delight as they watch a gay couple share a peck on the lips has gone viral.

In the 25-second video, the girls are seen ecstatically cheering for the couple like they’re at a Justin Bieber concert. When they cry “Again! Do it again!”, the guy filming flips his camera around to smooch his boyfriend a second time. More excited chaos and screaming ensues.

The video, which was uploaded only a view days ago, has already received over 126K likes and 3 million views.

This Hunky World Champion Skater Just Came Out By Posting an Adorable Photo With His Boyfriend

French ice dancer Guillaume Cizeron, a four-time World Champion who won silver at the 2018 Olympics, discussed his sexuality publicly for the first time this week in an interview with Têtu magazine.

The interview was published days after Cizeron posted a photo with his boyfriend on Instagram, to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia.

Cizeron told the magazine he didn’t consider the interview a “coming out” — since he has long been open with friends and family — but acknowledged it was his first time discussing his sexuality publicly.

“I wanted to share this publicly because it was world day against homophobia and transphobia,” Cizeron told Têtu. “I told myself that by living in Montreal, one of the cities where we feel the most free as a person from the LGBT community, we tend to forget how this is not the case everywhere in Canada and in other countries, even in France. So exposing oneself serves the cause. Over the past few months, I have talked about it with many people who surround me and are part of the community, some of whom are activists, and who have told me several times how far it could have had an impact in this cause. What held me [back] for a moment was the fact that I always considered that we shouldn’t have to come out. I was quite surprised that people made so many positive comments, it made me happy. Despite everything, there were 200 or 300 people who stopped following me at that time, out of 84,000. I have the impression that gay sportsmen are still known to be gay sportsmen. I don’t want to be the gay skater, but the medalist skater. But I think there is still a need to fight so that matters evolve in this direction.”
