Singer Melissa Etheridge, along with her ex-girlfriend Julie Cypher received tragic news this week. Their son, Beckett Cypher, has died after a battle with opioid addiction. He was only 21.

“Today I joined the hundreds of thousands of families who have lost loved ones to opioid addiction,” Etheridge said on Twitter. “My son Beckett, who was just 21, struggled to overcome his addiction and finally succumbed to it today. He will be missed by those who loved him, his family and friends. My heart is broken. I am grateful for those who have reached out with condolences and I feel their love and sincere grief. We struggle with what else we could have done to save him, and in the end we know he is out of the pain now.”

Cypher gave birth to Beckett in 1998 via artificial insemination. The couple later revealed in a Rolling Stone article that music icon David Crosby had donated his sperm. Etheridge and Beckett also had another child together, Bailey Jean, before the couple separated in 2000. As a musician, Etheridge earned fandom for her singles “Come to My Window,” “Breathe,” and “I’m the Only One.” “Come to My Window” earned her a Grammy Award in 1995, while her song “I Need to Wake Up” from the film An Inconvenient Truth won her an Oscar in 2007.

Trump Unveils Space Force Flag, Brags About ‘Super-Duper Missile’ in Mask-Free Ceremony: WATCH

Trump Unveils Space Force Flag, Brags About ‘Super-Duper Missile’ in Mask-Free Ceremony: WATCH

Amid a raging pandemic, President Donald Trump took time out Friday afternoon to help unveil the new Space Force flag during an Oval Office ceremony — with no one wearing a mask.

As many have previously noted, the Space Force logo looks eerily similar to that of Star Trek’s Starfleet Command.

During Friday’s event, Trump bragged about a “super-duper missile” being developed by the Space Force that is “17 times faster than what we have now.”

“A Pentagon spokesman was asked about the ‘super-duper missile’ during a subsequent press call and referred reporters back to the White House,” the Hill reports.

“Space is going to be the future, both in terms of defense and offense and so many other things,” Trump said. “And already, from what I’m hearing and based on reports, we’re now the leader in space.”

More below.

Human Rights Campaign, Ricky Martin to Speak at Vigil Remembering LGBTQ Lives Lost in Puerto Rico

Human Rights Campaign, Ricky Martin to Speak at Vigil Remembering LGBTQ Lives Lost in Puerto Rico

This Sunday, May 17, Alphonso David, president of the Human Rights Campaign, will provide remarks at a televised virtual vigil honoring the lives of ten LGBTQ people who have been killed in the past 15 months in Puerto Rico. Other speakers include Ricky Martin, Olga Tañón and Circo. The vigil is being organized by the Broad Committee for the Search of Equity (CABE) and will air on Telemundo, Sunday, May 17 at 10:30 p.m. in commemoration of the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. The Americano will co-broadcast the event on their Facebook page.

“Over the last 15 months, Puerto Rico has seen an epidemic of violence against the LGBTQ community,” said HRC President Alphonso David. “Neulisa. Yampi. Serena. Layla. Penélope. These are the names of a few of the precious lives we have lost, this year alone, to hatred and bigotry, exclusion and violence. And while we will hold their names in our hearts and memories, we have a duty to bring an end to the hate that fuels the horrific violence that took them away from us. We must be united in our fight for equality, our fight for justice, and our fight for every member of the LGBTQ community to be treated with dignity and respect.”

“The entire HRC family is heartbroken over the epidemic of murders that has taken away 10 of our chosen family members in Puerto Rico over the past 15 months,” Tori Cooper, director of community engagement for the HRC Transgender Justice Initiative. “Today, in honor of the lives lost, and on the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia, we recommit ourselves to the fight for policies and protections for all transgender, nonbinary and queer people in Puerto Rico and across the world.”

“Conservative political and religious leaders on the island espouse the sort of rhetoric that emboldens those who would hate and harm LGBTQ people,” Pedro Julio Serrano, spokesperson for the Broad Committee for the Search for Equity (CABE in Spanish). “And while those that hate are very good at being the loudest in a room, today our love for our community, and with respect to those we lost, we will stand tall and let our love take the day. Today, love wins and we hope to inspire those who are with us to take a stand, and inspire more people to join our fight.”

“We have lost 15 of our siblings to a hate that I do not recognize,” Carlos Rodríguez, pastor, author, and founder/director of The Happy Non-Profit. “I know a Puerto Rico filled with people who love across differences. I know a generous Puerto Rico filled with joyous people who are quick to extend a table in order to make room for more people at a meal. Through my work, I have come across countless people of faith who embrace LGBTQ people and condemn the sort of hate that would lead to murder. There are more of us who love than those of us who hate in the religious community on the island. These hateful leaders do not represent us. But, as to the rest of us, we cannot remain silent, not today. Today, we have to rise up and stand for the religious principles of acceptance and justice if we want to help end these killings. If we stay silent, hate wins.”

“The violence we are witnessing in Puerto Rico should break every American’s heart, said Michael Vazquez, director of HRC Foundation’s Religion and Faith Program. “What is happening in Puerto Rico could happen anywhere in America if we allow unchecked anti-LGBTQ religious rhetoric to embolden hate and spread terror. At the core of every religious tradition is an ethic of justice, and as such we are calling upon religious leaders and politicians of faith across Puerto Rico to stand by a moral vision of love, justice, and inclusion, and combat the fundamentalist vitriol that led to the deaths of our trans and gender non-confirming siblings.”

Tweet claiming men who have too much sex with women are actually gay has everyone talking

Tweet claiming men who have too much sex with women are actually gay has everyone talking

A tweet that claims men who have too much sex with too many women are actually “undercover gay” has everyone talking online.

It all started a few days ago, when user @LadeIsPower volunteered his completely unscientific diagnosis to his 28,000 Twitter followers.

“Any man who has an obscene amount of sex with a high number women consistently over years is a potential undercover gay man,” he wrote. “Being a nympho/deviant is the gateway to homosexuality. It’s why a lot of these rappers are gay. Eventually you get so tired of p*ssy you begin to ‘explore’.”

any man who has an obscene amount of sex with a high number women consistently over years is a potential undercover gay man. being a nympho/deviant is the gateway to homosexuality. its why alot of these rappers are gay. eventually you get so tired of pussy you begin to “explore”

— Lade (@LadeIsPower) May 13, 2020

Unfortunately, @LadeIsPower did not clarify what constitutes an “obscene amount” or a “high number,” which has left countless men, especially rappers, who previously thought they were straight wondering if maybe they’re actually gay.

Now, we’ve heard a lot of outrageous theories about what makes a person gay, including musical theater, cuddling, recycling, and eating celery, just to name a few. But “too much straight sex” may very well take the cake.

So far, the tweet has received almost 12,000 likes, 2,000 retweets, and 5,000 comments.

And now, the responses…

Now banging other dudes, you see, that is manly and therefore very straight. Straightest thing you can do is bang another dude.

— delerium semens (@EddieVader4) May 14, 2020

Suprise! EVERYTHING is gay now! There is no escape!!!!

— mortgage! | 🗡 | ACAB | (@VVIDE_EYES) May 14, 2020

You see, when enveloped for too long in the caves of Feminine chaos, the penis loses its masculine drive and becomes a feminine penis, which is biologically driven to men

— Jangles ScienceLad (@sjwdebates) May 14, 2020

It was inevitable that someone was eventually going to tweet “Having sex with women is low key kind of gay.”

— Flamin’ Hot Cheetos Rasp (@SeanRMoorhead) May 14, 2020

This is the worst excuse for “I can’t get laid” that I’ve ever seen 😂😂😂😂😂

— diet coke queen (@escaped_ferret) May 14, 2020

There is no “gateway” to homosexuality, even if there was, it definitely wouldn’t be heterosexual sex

— catherine 🏳️‍🌈 (@pan_demigoddess) May 14, 2020

Oh, but they don’t stop there…

This absolutely true. It’s why I’m gay now. I think y’all should really practice high levels of abstinence to stay heterosexual. Don’t be like me. PLEASE

— Kenneil Rowell, M.S. (@Kenneilreal) May 14, 2020

The manliest thing you can do is fuck another man.

I think you’ve cracked it. Gay sex is the straightest thing a man can do.

— Chuck E. Fuxabunch (@fuxabunch) May 14, 2020

We went in circles and ended up in ancient Rome huh?

— classy boujie ratchet😽💩💩 (@Quigons_miss) May 14, 2020

2020 strikes again

— Adam Lash (@newfoundmass) May 14, 2020

Conversely, a man who has sex with an absolute train of other men is as straight as it’s possible to be.

— Ian Rennie (@theangelremiel) May 14, 2020

New concept Gay Conversation Camp except it’s a Bath House and all the gays have gay sex all the time to make them straight by his logic. They will be so sexed out that they will crave a woman and only a woman.
