Start the new year right with some inspiring young love in ‘The One You Never Forget’

Anyone feeling a bit hungover from the holidays–possibly due to spending said holidays single for yet another year–we have your cure. Look no further than the heartwarming short film The One You Never Forget.

The eight-minute mini-movie follows 14-year-old Carrie as he prepares for the big high school dance. His parents want to meet his date, but Carrie dodges their interest; he doesn’t want them to know he’s going with another boy.

The short comes from director Morgan Jon Fox, known for directing episodes of the show Feral. He also became something of a festival darling with his feature Blue Citrus Hearts in 2003, a story of coming out in Memphis. We suspect that as a Tennessee native, Fox wove a few details of his own life into the story.

Written & directed by Fox, The One You Never Forget stars Tasha Smith (Empire), Malike Whitfield (The Temptations), London Curtis, and Owen D. Stone (Cobra Kai).

Have a look at the film, and see if 2020 looks a little bit lighter.

Dan Levy demanded answers after queer content was cut from ‘Schitt’s Creek.’ He just got them.

Dan Levy demanded answers after queer content was cut from ‘Schitt’s Creek.’ He just got them.

British TV network 4Music has responded after editing queer content out of Schitt’s Creek, chalking it up to human error, not homophobia.

Last month, a Twitter user alerted series creator/star Dan Levy that dialogue between Levy’s character David and his on-screen boyfriend Patrick (Noah Reid) had mysteriously vanished from the 4Music broadcast.

“4Music showed Schitt’s Creek with cut dialogue between David and Patrick. “…to sleep with me or whatever” is just missing,” they tweeted. “But their kiss is there. And episodes earlier talk of Moira sleeping with Roland remains.”

That prompted a response — and threat to continue raising hell — from Levy:

“Is this true, @4Music? Censoring kissing and intimate dialogue?” Levy tweeted, adding: “Also, I will be retweeting this every day until I get a response. So…”

The network’s official Twitter account quickly responded, calling it “100% human error.”

“We do often edit shows for different time slots and David’s kiss with Jake was inadvertently lost from the episode that we played,” they wrote. “This will be sorted for all future broadcasts of this episode.”

A Channel 4 spokesperson added: “Programmes are routinely edited for different broadcast slots, however in this instance a section containing a kiss between David and Jake was inadvertently removed from an episode of Schitt’s Creek broadcast this weekend on 4Music, this was due to human error, and will be remedied for all future broadcasts.”

The sixth and final season of Schitt’s Creek is due to premiere on January 7, 2020.

A Los Angeles billboard featuring David and Patrick kissing went viral last month after Levy shared the image:

F*ck yes we did. Shine bright, friends. Very grateful for @poptv and @cbc and their support on this campaign that my teenage self would never have dreamed to be true. ????? pic.twitter.com/FeXqoE8WVv
