Cher offers to pay man’s legal expenses after he was fired for asking not to be called the N-word

When music legend Cher heard about Marlon Anderson, who was fired from his job last week for defending himself against a child who called him the N-word, she did what any icon worth $360 million would do: she offered to pay for his legal expenses should he choose to sue his former employer.

Last week, Anderson was let go from his job as a security guard at a high school in Wisconsin after he asked a student to please stop calling him the N-word.

Seems like a reasonable enough request to us.

But administrators at Madison West High School, where Anderson had worked for over a decade, felt differently. They said the school has a zero-tolerance policy for staff using the N-word and fired him on the spot. (Evidently, the same policy doesn’t apply to students.)

“My understanding of the policy was white staff shouldn’t use the N-word under any circumstances,” Anderson told NBC News afterwards. “But I had no idea me being called the word and me telling the student not to call me the word would get me fired.”

Enter Cher.

When the dance diva learned what had happened to Anderson, she was pissed and offered to cover his legal expenses if he wanted to sue the school board.

Referencing the late congressman Elijah Cummings, who died last Thursday, the singer tweeted: “How can people be so disrespectful!? A beloved man of color just passed and our nation is mourning him. Elijah Cummings FOUGHT FOR JUSTICE. He was loved and feared. If you want to sue [Madison Metropolitan School District] education board, I will incur your expenses.”

How Can Ppl Be This Disrespectful??A Beloved,Man of Color Just Passed,& Our Nations Mourning Him.Cong.Elijah Cummings FOUGHT FOR JUSTICE.He Was loved & Feared. If You Want To sue MMSD Ed.Board I Will Incur Your expenses.?EC

Evidently, merely offering her limitless resources to Anderson was enough to get the school board to reinstate his employment.

NBC 15 now reports:

The Madison Metropolitan School District rescinded the termination of a staff member, who was fired last week for using a racial slur.

According to a release from the union, Madison Teachers Inc., the Madison Metropolitan School District decided Monday to rescind the termination of Marlon Anderson, a security guard at Madison West High School.

There are many morals to this story, one of them being: Never cross Cher.

Frontman of heavy metal band Judas Priest wants to guest-judge ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 12

Frontman of heavy metal band Judas Priest wants to guest-judge ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ season 12

RuPaul’s Drag Race has tons of celebrity fans — including, it turns out, Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford, who wants to guest-judge the show on season 12.

“Get all the drag queens in full-on metal. Let’s do it, Ru!” he tells RuPaul during a recent Yahoo Entertainment interview.

Halford, who came out as gay in 1998, appreciates the Emmy-winning reality series on many levels. “I just love that show just for every emotional dimension of what’s being presented… the interaction, and the support, and the fun, and the bitchiness, and all this kind of stuff,” the 68-year-old says. “It’s great. It’s a beautiful insight to a part of our world and it’s really important. It has a tremendous amount of value.”

“Show like Ru’s show, or the Queer Eye show, these things are wonderful opportunities for people that don’t know about us. Just to look and listen and learn. That whole thing about we are your bus driver, we are your nurse at school, we are your judge court. We’re their airline pilot. We are everywhere. Just taking away and destroying this horrible pushback that we have.”

Halford, who’s working on his American citizenship, is worried about recent setbacks to LGBTQ equality. “We’ve been practically ignored by this current administration,” he explains. “We were forging so far ahead with the previous administration, and now we are pushed to the sidelines, and I think that’s a terrible disservice. It’s insulting. And thank God that [Trump] won’t last forever.”

In addition to shows like Drag Race, though, the Grammy winner finds support in the “really, really beautiful” and sometimes “quite heartbreaking” letters he receives from his LGBTQ fanbase. “It gave me some more power to remain where I’m at — and to just go out there now, as an openly gay metalhead singer,” he says.

Lindsey Graham Backs Trump: Impeachment Inquiry ‘is a Lynching in Every Respect’ — WATCH

Lindsey Graham Backs Trump: Impeachment Inquiry ‘is a Lynching in Every Respect’ — WATCH

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) backed up Donald Trump’s characterization of the House impeachment inquiry as a “lynching.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham defended Pres. Trump’s tweet comparing the impeachment process to a “lynching,” saying, “This is a lynching in every sense. This is un-American.”

Other Republicans have since criticized the president’s use of “lynching.” t.co/6kwlIKJMP5 pic.twitter.com/JoQ4XwhSfX

— ABC News (@ABC) October 22, 2019

Said Graham: ““I think that’s pretty well accurate. This is a lynching in every sense. This is un-American. I’ve never seen a situation in my lifetime as a lawyer where somebody is accused of a major misconduct who cannot confront the accuser, call witnesses on their behalf and have the discussion in the light of day so the public can judge.”

Graham added: “I think lynching is being seen as somebody taking the law in their own hands and out to get somebody for no good reason. Yes, African Americans have [been] lynched. Other people have been lynched throughout history. What does lynching mean? That a mob grabs you, they don’t give you a chance to defend yourself, they don’t tell you what happened to you, they just destroy you. That’s exactly what’s happening in the United States House of Representatives right now. In every sense, this is a mob taking over the rule of law. This is fundamentally un-American and until it changes, I will fight back as hard as I can.”
