The online persona I show you is all photoshoots, parties and magazine covers. This hasn’t always been entirely the truth. Earlier this year, I found myself back in Australia, living in a country town in my mother’s spare room and financially broke. Having to rebuild my life at the time felt like a monumental task. I honestly didn’t think I could do it. I stopped looking after myself, drinking most weekends away, stopped training, all things which compounded the low point I was in. It honestly felt all the years of hard work had only led me back to where I began. For the first time in my life I’d felt anxiety, which was something new, scary and very overwhelming at times. Only weeks earlier I was living in London with my partner, running my own business, attending every party I was invited to, appearing in countless photoshoots and magazines. Before this I was in North America representing Australia in bobsleigh, training and competing, whilst getting flown to media gigs and appearances all around the world. I was passionate about doing everything I could to show the world that out and proud athletes exist. I felt the world was my oyster and this was my chance to do exactly that. I felt like I’d failed and let so many people down. Life over the last several years has been a truely amazing adventure. This now felt all but a distant memory. Many tears were cried over many nights, and some days I didn’t want to even get out of bed. This image is me at the height of that time, i questioned if I should post it because it doesn’t portray the person I show the world. There’s no abs, I was unhappy and lost. It portrays the real me, someone who, like everyone else, has obstacles they need to overcome. My little victory is being able to post it now, only a few months later, passionate for life again and looking forward to the next adventure. The Simon you see online is the Simon I want you to see, may it be my pride or the influence of social media, but it’s not always as it seems. Life is a series of ups and downs, just remember – there’s always light at the end of the tunnel no matter how dark it may seem!

Can we talk about all the gay culture happening on Jerry Falwell Jr.’s Instagram page?

QUESTION: What do rainbows, shirtless men, young twinks, pageant queens, and Elton John all have in common?

ANSWER: They’re all prominently featured on Jerry Falwell Jr.’s Instagram page!

The homophobic president of Liberty University is back in the headlines after some questionable, ahem, dealings between him and his 20-something personal trainer, Ben Crosswhite, were made public.

Last week, Reuters revealed that Falwell once arranged to give Crosswhite a sprawling, multi-million dollar, 18-acre fitness facility belonging to his non-profit university plus an additional $650,000 for almost nothing in return.

This was in addition to the $4.7 million he gave to his 20-something pool boy, Giancarlo Granda, who he met at a hotel while he and his wife were on vacation.

Now, a closer look at Falwell’s Instagram page offers a hidden but telling story of a man who has made it his life’s work to promote the oppression of LGBTQ people.

Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown Returns to Social Media, Says He Was Threatened After Sean Spicer Remarks

Queer Eye’s Karamo Brown returned to social media on Friday two weeks after deleting his Twitter account in response to backlash he received for remarks that he was “excited to sit down w/ [Dancing with the Stars co-star and former Trump Press Secretary Sean Spicer] and engage in a respectful conversation.”

Before deleting his Twitter, Brown had tried to clarify his remarks, but that didn’t go tell well either: “A trained social worker and my first instinct is always to sit down and have a conversation. But I understand how my comments could lead people to believe that I don’t understand the gravity of the situation. The personal is political… I’m reminded of it daily as a gay man of color. I know that representation matters–that it can affect change. I see you & I hear you. I’m bringing my personal message of love, equity & inclusion to the dance floor. I want it to eclipse & triumph over divisiveness & hatred.”

On Friday, Brown returned to Instagram and spoke about his absence: “So… some of you may know I deleted my other social media pages and took a long break from posting on ig because I been in a bad state of mind. My kids/family & I were being threatened by strangers… People who I thought supported & loved me turned their backs on me… saying I was a traitor, a horrible person, delusional and treating me really bad… but as I walk into my first dance rehearsal for @dancingabc No More Tears and No More Holding My Head Low! A new study concludes that people who use more emojis in their text messages have busier sex lives.

According to the authors, this isn’t all down to the fact that younger people are more likely to use emojis than older folk.

Published in the journal Plos One last month, the researchers – from The Kinsey Institute in Indiana University and the Department of Psychology in Lake Forest College in Chicago – undertook two separate studies.

The first study looked at over 5,000 US adults. Just over 10% identified as gay/lesbian/bisexual. All were single.

They were asked questions such as: “How frequently do you use emojis/emoticons in your text messages to a date?” Researchers also asked them how many dates they’d been on in the previous year and approximately how many times they’d had sex.

The main finding was that around 30% of those surveyed regularly used emojis in their messages. These 30% also reported going on more first dates and having more sex in the previous 12 months.

A second, smaller study went further. Recruiting 275 participants, it asked the same questions. But it also asked about second dates and whether sexual activity was with the same or more partners.

This smaller study found no significant association between emoji use and first dates. However, those who regularly used emojis were more likely to report second/follow-up dates, a higher number of sexual partners and more sexual activity.

It concludes, “Our findings suggest that emoji use with potential partners is associated with maintaining connection beyond the first date, and more romantic and sexual interactions.”

It continues that emojis lend messages, ‘expression in ways that satisfy fundamental human desires for affect, intimate communication, and interpersonal closeness.’

When you meet someone in real life, body language can give you clues as to their personality and how they are feeling. In the digital world, emojis can go some way to replace body language.

Emojis are one way of displaying emotions that may be more difficult to express with text: they can be a way of communicating intimacy.

The study did not look at what sort of emojis were sent between people and suggests more research is needed.

So, unfortunately, we can’t tell you if those eggplant and peach symbols are helping you secure a date or not.

TMZ reports: “Sources close to Chris’ family tell TMZ … he died Thursday afternoon at 1:45 PM from a heart attack. We’re told Chris had been in and out of the hospital for the last year, but the heart attack came as a surprise to doctors and relatives. Despite his medical battles — related to a nasty fall he suffered 2 years ago — we’re told Chris was still designing dresses until the end.”

Bravo’s Andy Cohen remembered March on Instagram: “This is how I’m going to remember Chris March, dressed as Lisa Vanderpump as I wear a Giggy costume he made for one of our first Halloween specials. Chris was a finalist on Season 4 of Project Runway. He designed for everyone from Beyoncé, Gaga, Madonna, Meryl, Prince and many legendary downtown drag queens (And Sonja Morgan!). He had a big booming laugh; he was a joy and delight. #RIP“
