Bison Sends 9-Year-old Girl Airborne After Yellowstone Tourists Get Too Close: WATCH

A bison tossed a 9-year-old girl into the air after charging a group of tourists at Yellowstone National Park who had come to close to it.

Not sure what kind of idiot would leave their kid this close to a bison pic.twitter.com/V66l2NDbLP

A clip of the encounter was posted to social media.

The National Park Service released a statement on the incident: “On the afternoon of July 22, there was an incident with a bull bison near Observation Point Trail in the Old Faithful Geyser area. According to witnesses, a group of approximately 50 people were within 5-10 feet of the bison for at least 20 minutes before eventually causing the bison to charge the group. A nine-year-old girl from Odessa, FL was charged and tossed into the air by the bull bison. The girl was taken to the Old Faithful Lodge by her family where she was assessed and treated by a park emergency medical providers, and later taken to and released from the Old Faithful Clinic.”

It also released a warning: “Wildlife in Yellowstone National Park are wild. When an animal is near a trail, boardwalk, parking lot, or in a developed area, give it space. Stay 25 yards (23 m) away from all large animals – bison, elk, bighorn sheep, deer, moose, and coyotes and at least 100 yards (91 m) away from bears and wolves. If need be, turn around and go the other way to avoid interacting with a wild animal in close proximity.”

Safety Update: Introducing Traveler Alert

Safety Update: Introducing Traveler Alert

Safety Update: Introducing Traveler Alert

It’s no secret that we believe everyone has the right to live how they want to live and love who they want to love. And while there are still efforts to protect our freedoms from LGBTQ discrimination here in U.S., it’s important to remember that there are still nearly 70 countries around the world that have laws effectively criminalizing LGBTQ status..

Starting today, we’re rolling out a Traveler Alert that will appear when Tinder is opened in one of these locations to ensure that our users are aware of the potential dangers the LGBTQ community faces — so that they can take extra caution and do not unknowingly place themselves in danger for simply being themselves.

Safety Update: Introducing Traveler Alert

Our LGBTQ community will no longer automatically appear on Tinder when they open the app in these areas. Once the alert is activated, users will have the choice to remain hidden while in that location or opt into making their profile public so that they can connect with new people. If a user chooses to be shown on Tinder – and has added sexual orientation or gender identity to their profile – it will not be displayed until they leave that area.

The alert will appear when users are on the ground in these countries, as well as if they are using Tinder’s Passport feature to connect and match with people anywhere in the world.

We worked with ILGA World to help establish locations in which Traveler Alert will appear. Together, we also added new information to our Safety Tips to include relevant information about this update.

Traveler Alert on Tinder is rolling out for users on both iOS and Android in the coming days.

“Straight Pride” is officially coming to California

“Straight Pride” is officially coming to California

Straight pride meme

City officials in Modesto, California say they are considering granting a permit for a “Straight Pride” event scheduled for next month.

Organizer Don Grundmann from the National Straight Pride Coalition tells his local news station that the event is his group’s “cultural answer” to “anyone that supports the LGBTQ lifestyle.”

“Essentially it boils down to two religious views of the world,” Grundmann says. “One is Christianity, which is represented by heterosexuality, a culture of life, and its opponent is the LGBT movement, which is represented by an opposing religion and an opposing view of life.”

Grundmann, who calls drag queen story hours “mutilation of children,” has been circulating flyers around town that say: “Join us to celebrate heterosexuality, masculinity, femininity, babies–born and unborn–western civilization, our wonderful country, Christianity–Celebrate Life!”

The event is scheduled for August 24, one week before the “Straight Pride” event in Boston.

Have you ever been fired from a job for being straight? Have you been banned from the USA for being Christian? No? That’s because it’s Straight pride day EVERY DAY.

Posted by Modesto Progressive Democrats on Sunday, July 21, 2019

City officials say their phones have been “ringing off the hook” with people opposing the event.

“We’ve been getting letters, emails, comments, and phone calls all day about it,” says city council member Kristi Ah You.

Ah You adds that, while she supports free speech and first amendment rights, but doesn’t support the idea of a “Straight Pride” event.

“I think if we ignored it and let the people do whatever they’re going to do, I think maybe four or five people would show up.”

Meanwhile, city spokesman Thomas Reeves says it may be required by law to grant the permit even though they disagree with the event.

“So although the city does not share in the beliefs of some groups that choose to hold their events here, we may not be able to deny a permit based on an organization’s values,” Reeves said.

Two men, three dogs, one sword collection, and a surprise that would change their lives…

Shane Co. Engagement story

When Brian and Andrew told people they had met while volunteering at a pet shelter, everyone believed them.

It seemed pretty plausible, especially considering both 28-year old Pheonix residents are animal lovers who live with their three dogs, Finn, Mallie, and Momo.

However, they weren’t quite being honest. They had actually met as many couples do: online. But as an origin story, “online dating” just didn’t seem to live up to the notion of romance and the tremendous love the two felt for each other.

Brian cooked gourmet meals at home, loved Star Wars, fantasy fiction, and martial arts. He was also a sword and knife collector and even had a few favorite collectors’ items made of intricately patterned Damascus steel.

Brian was head over heels for Andrew, noting that he was the most charismatic person he’d ever met. In fact, he couldn’t think of even one friend or acquaintance who didn’t love being around his boyfriend.

So a few months in, they had a talk and it was decided: Brian would be the one to propose. “Which was a great feeling at the time,” Andrew says, “because the pressure was off me.”

The timing of the engagement was never a tension point – rather, both men knew marriage was the next step in their relationship.

But as they boarded a plane to vacation in Puerto Vallarta with friends, the tables would turn…

Find out what happened next. Read Andrew and Brian’s full story here…
