PHILADELPHIA. 13 police officers fired over racist, homophobic, and violent social media posts: “These officers were determined to be the worst offenders among 328 local cops identified in the project’s national database. The police department will suspend them for 30 days with the intent to fire them, Ross said.”

WERNER HORN. New Hampshire Republican state rep. says owning slaves doesn’t make you racist: ““Wait, owning slaves doesn’t make you racist…It shouldn’t be surprising since owning slaves wasn’t a decision predicated on race but on economics. It’s a business decision.”

IRAN. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says it seized a British oil tanker: “The IRGC said the British tanker, Stena Impero, failed to follow international marine regulations so it took it to a coastal area to be turned over to maritime authorities,  according to Iran State TV. Footballer and photo-realistic statue subject Cristiano Ronaldo had a lot of great ideas around his new Hight-Summer 2019 underwear campaign.

But his best idea was to model the new threads seductively on a bed, colorful lighting accompanying his Blue Steel gaze.

“Summer is my favorite season and I love the time of day when the sun goes down and the sky is vivid,” he explained.

Yep, that’s what we’re getting from these photos.

“I wanted to capture that feeling in my HS19 campaign, using intense color that’s bold, rich and compliments my new collection. I wanted the campaign to have a really relaxed feel. Summer is the time of year when I have some time to chill out, so I wanted to reflect that.” he elaborated.

We say he nailed the concept.

OK but wait, there’s more?

“I always want my underwear to have a unique twist, which is where the playful use of color comes in. Essentially, I want to create underwear that looks so good that I want to wear it on the beach, rather than covering it up with my swimwear,” he said.

Well one thing is for certain — we would not mind bumping into a HS19-clad Ronaldo on a beach. Shall we say Fiji?

Newsday reports: “Page said she had been socializing with friends and co-workers in a Patchogue bar before the assault. The two women left the bar and were on a walkway near the Patchogue-Medford Library when they were confronted by four men. One of the men made lewd comments to her girlfriend, Page said, and questioned why a woman would want to be with another female. She and her partner tried to ignore the men, Page said.”

Page said she briefly lost consciousness as she was attacked: “I’m trying to make it known I‘m not trying to fight or have an altercation. I know now that he was bashing my head on the concrete ground multiple times. While that is going on, another one of the men was holding and pushing my girlfriend to the ground, in order for her not to help me.”

Anyone with information about the assailants is asked to call 800-220-TIPS, text “SCPD” and your message to “CRIMES” (274637) or email tipsubmit.com.

Ricky Martin & music artists lead Puerto Rico protests

Univision

Ricky Martin is among a number of artists and thousands of citizens calling for the resignation of Puerto Rico governor Ricardo Rosselló.

Rosselló finds himself in a massive political crisis in part because a trove of homophobic and misogynist communications that were recently made public. Martin was criticized in some of the more than 800 leaked communications which also included derisive comments about hurricane victims.

Many artists at Thursday night’s Premios Juventud on Univision made the quote of the night “Ricky renuncia” or ”Ricky resign.”

Throughout the show, musicians took the opportunity to reach fans with impassioned messages for political change and equality well beyond Puerto Rico’s current crisis.

The show included several LGBTQ artists including singer Joy Huerta of Jesse & Joy. The brother-sister duo were honored as “agents of change” for their work on behalf of animal rights and environmental causes. Huerta announced several months ago that she was married to a woman with whom she was expecting a baby. Huerta had the message “close the camps” on her arm in a photo from the awards.

Brazilian drag super star and singer Pabllo Vitta was also a presenter on Premios Juventud.

Also presenting were the actors who play boyfriends Aris and Temo on a Mexican novela, whom fans have dubbed Aristemo. The novela El Corazón Nunca se Equivoca which follows the couple’s move to Mexico City, premieres Aug. 16 on Univision.
