EXISTENTIAL THREAT TO AMERICA. Biden to take on Trump in forceful speech: “Biden’s remarks, released early by the campaign, mark some of Biden’s most pointed attacks of the president — mentioning his name 44 times, and hitting Trump for his tariff policy and the impact it has on Iowa farmers and manufacturers.”

TRUMP ON BEING IMPEACHED. I don’t leave.

Donald Trump, whose actions during the Russia probe have prompted comparisons to the Watergate scandal, drew a distinction between himself and Richard Nixon: “He left. I don’t leave. A big difference”t.co/xSRHObJ8J2 pic.twitter.com/X5JhZ8fxCM

TONE DEAF. Kylie Jenner holds Handmaid’s Tale-themed birthday party. “so…..who’s gonna tell her that her party is literally celebrating female enslavement for their biological reproduction??”

DEFIANCE. Some embassies still hoisting rainbow flags despite Trump administration advisory.

CANADA. Whale and dolphin captivity BANNED. Will ban single-use plastics in 2021.

DEM DEBATE. NBC announces that José Diaz-Balart, Savannah Guthrie, Lester Holt, Chuck Todd, and Rachel Maddow will moderate the first Democratic debate, later this month from downtown Miami.

MALE MODELS GALORE. Victor Pinheiro, Juan Betancourt, Austin Scoggin, Jake Hobbs, Bobby Penney and more.

FINALLY. Justice Department agrees to turn over key Mueller probe evidence: ‘The precise scope, volume or usefulness of the material was not immediately clear, but the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Representative Jerrold Nadler of New York, said it would include “interview notes, firsthand accounts of misconduct and other critical evidence” collected by Mr. Mueller from the White House and former officials.

QUEER EYE’S FAB 5. The people who changed their lives.

JUSTIN AMASH. GOP Congressman leaves conservative Freedom Caucus: ‘Amash’s series of tweets in mid-May shook Capitol Hill, as the conservative Michigan lawmaker said special counsel Robert Mueller’s report established “multiple examples” of Trump committing obstruction of justice. Amash was later insulted by Trump for his opinions — the President said he’s “been a loser for a long time” — and faced blowback from top Republican officials. He’s also now facing a primary challenger who is touting his support of Trump.’

MOURNFUL. Martha Plimpton says she feels alienated by her country.

DONE. Pride Foundation of Maryland quits YouTube: “Our decision is a direct response to YouTube’s decision regarding Steven Crowder’s targeted harassment and homophobic abuse of Carlos Maza, the openly gay journalist at Vox and producer of its Strikethrough web series. We’ve watched the various video segments on Crowder’s channel in which he offers rebuttals to content created by Vox. Not all of the videos Crowder attempts to rebut feature Maza, but those which do are characterized by repeated antigay slurs, sexual innuendo, and mocking references to Maza’s speech, mannerisms, and identity as a gay man. It didn’t take us an algorithm to find the blatant homophobia in Crowder’s videos. We knew it when we saw it.”

ALABAMA. Mother wants answers from school in gay son’s suicide: ‘Nigel Shelby, 14, killed himself in April, and his mother said adults at Huntsville High School knew what he was going through and responded at least once by telling him “being gay is a choice.” Whatever else they may have said and why they didn’t warn her is what nationally known civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump vowed to find out today. Crump and attorney Jasmine Rand have been retained by the family to investigate Nigel’s death.’

UNDER A ROCK. Tig Notaro tries to guess who Julie Bowen is.

Since doing gay for pay, actor says guys won’t stop slipping into his DMs, but that’s OK

Since doing gay for pay, actor says guys won’t stop slipping into his DMs, but that’s OK

Arjun

Arjun Mathur is a Bollywood actor making a name for himself on the hit new Amazon series Made in Heaven. The show follows two wedding planners from Delhi who run an agency called Made in Heaven. Mathur plays Karan Mehra, the openly gay lead.

The series is Amazon’s fourth Indian original series and has proven to be such a hit that it was picked up for a second season just one month after the Season 1 premiere back in March.

Since then, Mathur has seen his popularity skyrocket and he’s enjoyed a steady uptick in social media followers, particularly among gay men.

“Nobody ever came up to me and asked if I’m gay,” he recently said in an interview. “I have played gay character twice before–in Onir’s film I Am, and Mira Nair’s short film Migration.”

He continues: “In real life, it’s understood that I’m an actor. But on Instagram, people want to know if I’m gay. After Made in Heaven, I have been receiving messages of all kinds from downright dirty to appreciative to ‘marry me.’”

While this is all very flattering, Mathur still hasn’t quite figured out how to navigate the situation, especially the “dirty messages.” (We regret to inform you that he’s straight.)

The 37-year-old adds that he’s also had people reach out to say his portrayal of a gay man has helped to open their hearts and minds about LGBTQ people.

“A 35-year-old mother of two wrote to me saying that homosexuals always made her a little uncomfortable,” he explains. “But, the show totally changed her outlook, and now even if both her kids grow up to be gay, she’s going to love them and be proud of them.”

“So, the depth at which [my portrayal of a gay character] has penetrated and touched people, is amazing. To be able to touch people like this is very special.”

Scroll down for pics from Mathur’s Instagram page but, please, refrain from sending him any x-rated missives…

??? Fun-fact: The #painting next to me was my second ever attempt at an #OilOnCanvas, done at the age of 11, back in 1993. #Drawing and painting were my first ever means of any #artistic #expression. My parents were initially convinced that whatever direction I would choose to take my life in, would be putting that particular #talent or #skill to use. The preferred means of expression have changed since.. (To be fair, they really should have seen this coming too, just from the amount of #nautanki I performed for them at home). Anyway, here’s to maybe revisiting that first love even a little more than I currently do and picking up that pencil and brush again sometime.. #ArtIsArt #LoveIsLove #LoveIsArt #ArtIsLove ? @teebirdyfly

A very final nap on my couch, hours before leaving my #home of 15 years, for good.. That’s the longest in my life, that I’ve lived at any single place.. Thank you, #Ashirwad. What a loving little cave you were.. All the stories we’ve seen unfold together.. I will miss you. Feels like a lifetime I’ve spent within your walls, it’s where I’ve truly ‘grown up’… But onward and forward, I suppose. And thank you @teebirdyfly for the photo (and your very own ashirwad, apparently).

Halsey Honors Lesbian Couple Attacked on Bus, Slams ‘Straight Pride Parade’ at London Concert: WATCH

Halsey wore a t-shirt paying tribute to Melania and Chris, the lesbian couple attacked on a London bus last week by a gang of men who demanded they kiss. “A couple nights ago, right here, they were assaulted because they’re lesbians,” said the singer.

a four minute heart wrenching speech about the attack in camden last week and why straight pride will never be a good idea. thank you halsey for being the inspiration and voice of our community, words fail to describe how much we love you @halsey pic.twitter.com/kXBjFDB5PW

— ???? (@beth0slo) June 11, 2019

Halsey getting a room full of queer kids to scream “I WILL NOT BE AFRAID” after two women were beaten for being gay in the exact same town she’s performing in. She’s wearing a shirt with their faces on the front, and “FUCK YOUR STRAIGHT PRIDE” on the back. pic.twitter.com/VssWprS3gX

— Sucker!! (AKA Becca!!) (@iamsuckeriam) June 10, 2019

She went on to blast Straight Pride parade organizers, saying, “The sad reality is, after the Pride parades are over and after the bars close their Pride nights, when the glitter is being swept out of the streets, a lot of people get on those trains and they get on those buses and they try to wash the rainbows off their bodies. They peel the stickers off their clothes, because when Pride is over, it’s not safe to be gay anymore, because they are worried that someone is going to viciously assault them or viciously attack them. So, whenthe people around the world ask the question, ‘Why isn’t there a ‘Straight Pride’ parade?’ The answer because if there was one, you wouldn’t have to get on the bus and be terrified of getting f**king beaten or killed afterwards. That’s why there’s not a ‘Straight Pride’ parade. Because every f**king day on public transport is a ‘Straight Pride’ parade.”

Lee Daniels says he’s “beyond embarrassed” for ever believing Jussie Smollett

Lee Daniels headshot

“I’m beyond embarrassed. I think that when it happened, I had a flash of me running from bullies. I had a flash of my whole life, of my childhood, my youth, getting beaten.

Of course, there’s some doubt. I’m telling you that because I love him so much. That’s the torture that I’m in right now, because it’s literally if it were to happen to your son and your child, how would you feel? You would feel, Please, God, please let there be that glimmer of hope that there is some truth in this story. That’s why it’s been so painful. It was a flood of pain.

I had to detach myself and stop calling him, because it was taking away the time I have for my kids, the time I have for my partner. It was affecting my spirit and other shows, everything.”Lee Daniels speaking to Vulture about the Jussie Smollett scandal.
