STEVE BANNON. On Trump’s finances: “This is where it isn’t a witch hunt – even for the hard core, this is where he turns into just a crooked business guy, and one worth $50m instead of $10bn. Not the billionaire he said he was, just another scumbag.”
WINTER HAS COME. Jon Snow is in rehab.
RANDY RAINBOW. Always dead funny.”
ALEX TREBEK. TRAILER OF THE DAY. Swamp Thing.
MUSIC VIDEO OF THE DAY. Mathew V “Flashback”.
Says Mathew V: “Writing this song was one of the hardest things I‘ve had to do in my life. I wrote this song about my experience with sexual violence/rape at seventeen years old, and how that situation has influenced and affected my life today. It was something that I always knew I had to process, and had always avoided. But with every new song I wrote, I still had this in my closet, this weight on my chest. I worked on this song with Luca Fogale who is an amazing artist in his own respect, and one of my best friends. I had opened up to him about this aspect of my life in the past, and he felt like a very safe space for me to turn to with these feelings. I know that when I went through what I did, I felt so ashamed and alone. I felt like I couldn’t tell anyone what had happened to me because they would think that I was weak, that I was less of a man because I couldn’t fight back, because I was scared. If I’m being totally honest, I felt so poorly about myself at the time that I thought people wouldn’t believe me. I thought that people wouldn’t believe that anyone would have wanted me that way. It was later that I learned how large an issue rape and sexual violence is within the gay community, and in society as a whole. I was lucky enough to have resources to turn to in Vancouver. I called a sexual education toll free phone line and I was directed to the proper medical treatment for my situation. I strongly urge everyone to look into the resources in your area. Start a conversation. This is something we can talk about, and we have to talk about. We have to know where to turn in these situations and that we are safe to come forward and seek help. Ultimately this is the song that I needed to hear at that time to know that I wasn’t alone.”

Blocked: This country just banned Grindr
Blocked: This country just banned Grindr
Bad news for guys looking for covert connection in Lebanon: the country has officially banned Grindr from its soil.
The Ministry of Telecommunications in Lebanon began blocking the IP address of the app over the weekend on the state-run telecommunications provider Ogero. Citizens using third-party providers still have access to the app.

The queer rights group Helem issued a statement decrying the move as an assault to freedom of expression. “It seems that the Lebanese government and in particular the Ministry of Telecommunications has no interest in safeguarding freedom of speech and association in Lebanon and has issued a memo on Friday ordering a complete and total ban of Grindr in Lebanon which will slowly start to take effect,” the group said in a statement. “This is a gross violation of personal rights and freedoms. We were not deterred by previous bans and we shall not be deterred by this one, and we shall always continue our steady and stubborn march towards equality and inclusion.”
Though a preponderantly Muslim nation, Lebanon does not actually have any legal bans on homosexual behavior. Laws prohibiting sex that violates the “laws have nature” do exist, though the nation’s courts have routinely ruled that the statute does not ban gay sex. Nevertheless, police still use the law to arrest queer citizens as an ongoing form of discrimination.
Maine Becomes 17th State to Ban Gay ‘Conversion Therapy’
Maine Becomes 17th State to Ban Gay ‘Conversion Therapy’
Maine on Wednesday became the 17th state to ban harmful gay “conversion therapy” for minors when Governor Janet Mills signed a bill into law: “The bill, which was sponsored by Assistant Majority Leader Rep. Ryan Fecteau, D-Biddeford, would prohibit state-licensed counselors, psychologists, social workers, health professionals, guidance counselors as well as pastoral and family therapists from engaging in conversion therapy.”
Tweeted Mills: “Today I signed into law a bill banning conversion therapy, a widely-discredited practice that has no place in Maine. Today, we send an unequivocal message to young LGBTQ people: we stand with you, we support you, and we will always defend your right to be who you are.”
The practice is also banned in Massachusetts, New Jersey, California, Oregon, Illinois, Vermont, New Mexico, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, Washington, Hawaii, Delaware, Maryland, New Hampshire, and New York, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

While singer Sufjan Stevens has never publicly come out, his music has often been fallen under the LGBTQ umbrella.
Just last year, he nabbed an Oscar nomination for songs he contributed to the Call Me By Your Name soundtrack.
Now, the 43-year-old singer has announced the release of a new EP for Pride month, along with a limited edition Pride shirt he designed himself.

“In celebration of Pride Month, Sufjan Stevens is releasing two new songs on the topic of love: ’Love Yourself’ and ’With My Whole Heart,’ available on limited-edition 7” vinyl in late June and on all digital platforms May 29, 2019,” Stevens announced on his new “Love Yourself” website.
The description continues: “‘Love Yourself’ is based on a sketch Sufjan wrote 20 years ago. The original 4-track demo he recorded in 1996 is included as well as a short instrumental reprise. ‘With My Whole Heart’ is a completely new song that Sufjan wrote as a personal challenge to ’write an upbeat and sincere love song without conflict, anxiety, or self-deprecation.’”

In addition to the new limited-edition vinyl, Stevens has also designed a limited edition Pride t-shirt.
The shirts are selling for $45 with a portion of the proceeds going to the Ali Forney Center in New York and the Ruth Ellis Center in Detroit, Michigan, two organizations that offer assistance to homeless queer youth.
Only 800 of the t-shirts are being printed, so get those orders in quick!
The whole thing has people wondering: Is this Stephens’ way of coming out? Or is he just really proud to be an ally?
Whatever the case, we want one of those t-shirts.

A white woman pulled a gun on a black couple in Starkville, Mississippi on Sunday because they did not make reservations to have a picnic by a lake. A video taken by the couple has gone viral.
Wrote Jessica Richardson on Facebook: “RACISM IS ALIVE AND WELL!!
Today was a beautiful day so my husband (who’s a vet), our 2 year old dog, and myself, decided to Google a lake to visit and have a picnic. We found a lake located in starkville, ms and decided to visit. Not five mins later a truck pulls up and a white lady screams at us, she then jumps out of her truck with a Gun. And proceeded to point it at the 3 of us, simply because we didnt make reservations. After leaving my husband stopped by the office and talked with her husband (they’re the property managers). The husband tells my husband that reservations aren’t needed for the lake. This happened In Starkville,Ms”
Richardson’s husband Franklin recently returned from a 9-month deployment in the Middle East.
Kampgrounds of America (KOA) said it had fired the employee.

Maine Gov. Janet Mills Signs Legislation Protecting LGBTQ Youth from “Conversion Therapy”
Maine Gov. Janet Mills Signs Legislation Protecting LGBTQ Youth from “Conversion Therapy”
HRC celebrated Maine Governor Janet Mills signing into law L.D. 1025, which protects LGBTQ youth from the dangerous and debunked practice of so-called “conversion therapy.” The bill was passed with strong bipartisan support and makes Maine the 17th state in the U.S. to protect youth from this egregious practice.
“Today, Maine has taken decisive action to protect LGBTQ youth from so-called ‘conversion therapy,’” said Marty Rouse, national field director for the Human Rights Campaign. “We’re grateful to Gov. Janet Mills for signing this bill into law, the Maine state legislature — especially lead sponsor Rep. Ryan Fecteau — and EqualityMaine for their leadership in taking up this important issue. As more states and jurisdictions work to prevent this dangerous, debunked practice, it is clear: ‘conversion therapy’ should have no place in our country.”
There is no credible evidence that conversion therapy can change a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity or expression. To the contrary, research has clearly shown that these practices pose devastating health risks for LGBTQ young people resulting in depression, decreased self-esteem, substance abuse, homelessness, and suicidal behavior. The harmful practice is condemned by every major medical and mental health organization, including the American Psychiatric Association, American Psychological Association, and American Medical Association.
California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, Nevada, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico all have laws or regulations protecting youth from this harmful practice. Colorado’s governor is expected to sign a similar bill into law later this week. A growing number of municipalities have also enacted similar protections, including at least fifty cities and counties in Arizona, Florida, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Washington, and Wisconsin.
According to a recent report by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law, an estimated 20,000 LGBTQ minors in states without protections will be subjected to conversion therapy by a licensed healthcare professional if state officials fail to act. Last year, national organizations representing millions of licensed medical and mental health care professionals, educators, and child welfare advocates declared their support for legislative protections against conversion therapy.
HRC has partnered with the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR), GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD), EqualityMaine and local advocates in support of these vital protections. More information on the lies and dangers of efforts to change sexual orientation or gender identity can be found here.
