DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. Trump jokes that he might stay in office for 10 or 14 years. “There’ll be headlines tomorrow: ‘Donald Trump wants to break Constitution.’”
JERRY FALWELL JR. On the racy photos controversy: “This report is not accurate,” Falwell said. “There are no compromising or embarrassing photos of me.” Background HERE.
JERRY FALWELL’S POOL BOY. Don’t call me a pool boy. “Media outlets have been referring to Mr. Granda as a ‘pool boy,’” Resnick said. “The term ‘pool boy’ is being used to demean Mr. Granda, sully his name, and infer negative connotations. Please do not use that term going forward.”
BRIEFLY. Shawn Mendes in his underwear.
TROLLING. Conservative filmmaker Ami Horowitz announces 2020 presidential run as Democrat. “They’ve become so radicalized over the past several years that I feel compelled to try to bring some sanity into the discussion.”
DENVER. Psychedelic mushrooms have been decriminalized. “After closing an early vote deficit Tuesday night and early Wednesday, final unofficial results posted late in the afternoon showed a reversal of fortune — with Initiative 301 set to pass narrowly with 50.6 percent of the vote. The total stands at 89,320 votes in favor and 87,341 against, a margin of 1,979.”
ARIZONA. Senate Republicans declare pornography a public health crisis: “HCR 2009, approved by the Senate on a 16-13 vote, asserts that pornography encourages violence against women, leads to infidelity and eating disorders and can be addictive.”
SUSPENDED. David Beckham won’t be on the road for the next 6 months.
CUBA. Authorities block gay Washington Blade reporter from entering country. “A customs agent pulled him aside and a supervisor took his passport. The supervisor’s colleague approached Lavers about 15 minutes later and asked him how many times he has been to Cuba, what his profession is and why did he come to the country. The official informed Lavers the Cuban government was not going to allow him into the country. Lavers asked the official why and he said his name appeared on a list without any additional explanation.”
BETTE MIDLER. The Divine Miss M hammers Trump supporters.
NEVER GIVE UP HOPE. Madonna sends message to the LGBTQ community.
VISUAL VIDEO OF THE DAY. Kacey Musgraves “Oh, What a World”.
HOMO SAPIEN EXTINCTION. Do people care?
NEW TUNE OF THE DAY. Kim Petras “Blow It All”.
MACRO BUG OF THE DAY. Treehopper from Ecuador. “This beautiful Treehopper in the Genus Vestistylus is from the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador. Treehoppers, Membracidae are insects related to cicadas and leafhoppers. Most treehoppers have a highly modified pronotum on the back. Treehoppers feed on plant sap which is rich in sugar.”
THIRSTY THURSDAY. Cody.

What One LGBTQ Teen Wants His Mom to Know this Mother’s Day
With Mother’s Day this weekend and Father’s Day around the corner, HRC asked young people to submit letters and share stories about a caring adult in their life.
This letter, one of many incredible notes received, comes from Miles Sanchez, a former HRC Youth Ambassador. Please read his note and, then share your own words about a caring adult who made an impact on you.
Whether you’re a mom or not, we hope you find this note as heartwarming as we do.
This Mother’s Day, I am grateful for my mom’s support of my crazy gay journey.
There aren’t enough words in the world for me to express my appreciation for my mom, Amber Sanchez.
We might not have shared that emotional teen movie coming out scene, but she has been my biggest supporter on my crazy gay journey … I don’t think I could have asked for anyone better to be there for me.
She has shown me nothing but unconditional love and it would be wrong for me to give anything less back. She has done everything for me — from watching me get my first binder, taking me to safe spaces to find my community, advocating for me at schools and doctor’s offices, going with me to my first Pride parade, and simply just looking at me and telling me I’m handsome while we are sitting on the couch at home.
Her support helped me reach my own self-love and actualization, because I knew even if the world was against me I could always come back to loving arms and a loving home … and, as long as I have that, nobody else’s opinion of me matters.
It’s so important for LGBTQ youth like me to have a supportive parent or adult figure in their life. Even if they don’t completely understand what you’re going through, they can still support you and give you the safety to explore who you are at your own pace.
So, thanks, Mom for loving me for me. You model what it means to be an ally of the LGBTQ community through your open-mindedness, your respect for pronouns, your mindfulness and your deep love.
Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!
Miles Sanchez

Hate Crime Investigation Opened After Pride Flag Burned Outside LGBTQ-Themed Baltimore Shop
A Pride flag was burned outside Same Gender Love, a boutique in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon neighborhood, this week.
Merrick Moses, board chair of the Pride Center of Maryland, was filming an episode of Queer Conversations, “an internet series featuring racial, sexual and gender minorities,” when the flag was burned, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Moses posted photos of the flag on Facebook, and wrote: ‘We were just minding our own “queer” business, not hurting anyone. Why burn our flag? What’s the purpose? Why can’t LGBTQ people live in peace?’
Police have opened a hate crime investigation. The Baltimore Sun adds that two men were seen in surveillance video running away after setting fire to the flag: “[Moses] and LaToi Williams, the show’s host, ran outside with the manager to find the flag still smoldering. Moses said it made him angry and upset. ‘That flag represents not just a people but it also represents a struggle of a people to live as human beings,’ Moses said. ‘The flag was adopted because it shows the diversity of our community. It also shows our strength and the promise of our country, that all people are created equal. When someone burns this flag, it says we don’t respect your humanity and we think you don’t belong here.’”

Congressman Dan Lipinski Must Reverse Course & Support the Equality Act
70% of Illinoisans support adding nondiscrimination protections for the 425,000 LGBTQ people in the state
Lipinski’s opposition to Equality Act continues long trend of the Congressman opposing LGBTQ acceptance
NEW YORK – GLAAD, the world’s largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, today called on Democratic Congressman Dan Lipinski (IL-03) to reverse course and support the Equality Act, which would provide protections for LGBTQ people in Illinois at their workplace, in their schools, and in their homes. In a brief statement, Lipinski cited concerns about so-called “religious liberty” as a reason for his immediate opposition for the bill. A House vote on the Equality Act is expected next week.
GLAAD launched a digital campaign asking Illinoisans to demand the Congressman support the Equality Act that would protect more than 425,000 people who identify as LGBTQ in the state. The campaign on Lipinski comes as GLAAD also urged U.S. Senator Joe Manchin in March to also reverse course and support the bill, which would help solidify protections for 58,000 West Virginians identifying as LGBTQ.
“Congressman Dan Lipinski’s concerns about the balance between religion and government are a false flag. Religion is an American value that’s treasured in this country – including for the LGBTQ community – and is not compromised in any way by ensuring equal rights and dignity for all people,” said Zeke Stokes, Chief Programs Officer of GLAAD. “There are 425,000 LGBTQ Illinoisans whose safety and quality of life are on the line while Congressman Lipinski parrots the misguided anti-LGBTQ activists who use religion as a weapon against them. Rep. Dan Lipinski should listen to his constituents – not anti-LGBTQ extremists.”
Congressman Lipinski’s opposition to the Equality Act continues a long history of the Democratic member of Congress opposing LGBTQ acceptance, including opposing marriage equality to supporting the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION: Rep. Dan Lipinski’s Anti-LGBTQ Record
· Opposed marriage equality.
· Campaigned on support for a nationwide ban on marriage equality.
· Sponsored the so-called First Amendment Defense Act, which is an attempt to allow businesses to discriminate against LGBTQ consumers.
· Supported and voted to reaffirm the discriminatory and unconstitutional Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
· Voted against the Employment Discrimination Act (ENDA).
· Does not support the Equality Act (only House Democrat with this distinction).
· Supported the so-called Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), a conservative effort to allow businesses to avoid LGBT nondiscrimination ordinances.
