Supreme Court Upholds Lower Court Ruling Affirming Trans Students

Today, HRC responded to news that the Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal from the Alliance for Defending Freedom (ADF) over a third circuit ruling in Doe v. Boyertown Area School, meaning that students in that school district will be permitted to use bathrooms and locker rooms that align with their gender identities.

“This is a critical victory for transgender students throughout the United States,” said Robin Maril, HRC Associate Legal Director. “Again and again, federal courts have affirmed the right of students to use facilities that align with their gender identity, and this latest decision by the Supreme Court to reject an appeal to overturn Boyertown’s policy affirms that pattern of equality under the law for all students, regardless of gender identity. The fight is far from over, and from the ballot box to the courts, we will never stop advocating on behalf of transgender and nonbinary students.”

The Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal from the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) over a ruling by the U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals that upheld Boyertown Area School’s policy allowing students to use restrooms and locker rooms that align with their gender identity.

The Human Rights Campaign will continue to fight alongside coalition partners in ensuring transgender students are treated with dignity and respect in their school environments.

Helix Star Blake Mitchell Ditches Stage Name, Wants to Be Called Lane Rogers, His Real Name.

Popular adult performer Blake Mitchell revealed that his real name is Lane Rogers over the weekend, and said that’s how he’d now like to be known.

Lane told the website Str8Up that he wanted to make a change into the “truly authentic me” and be himself, “not a character.” Rogers recently ended his exclusivity with Helix Studios and wants to pursue work in non-adult roles.
