Popular Gay Bar DJ Brutally Attacked, But Can’t Remember Any of It: WATCH

Oscar Rodriguez is a popular karaoke DJ at the Round-Up Saloon in the Oak Lawn neighborhood of Dallas. On April 14 he was found at 2 am with a fractured skull, a bleeding brain, a broken jaw, and a broken memory. He can’t remember anything that happened that night after he left work.

WFAA reports: “Rodriguez said he vaguely remembers waking up in his car somewhere near U.S. 75. Badly injured, with everything except his cell phone, he somehow made it to his apartment complex. His roommate drove him to the hospital. Nikki Meister is the studio manager and Oscar’s co-worker at a gym in the Bishop Arts District. She was with him in the emergency room. “The doctors at Parkland said whoever did this intended for him to not walk away from it,” Meister said.”

No arrests have been made.

A Trans Nevadan is Sharing Her Harrowing Journey to Urge Congress to Pass the Equality Act

A Trans Nevadan is Sharing Her Harrowing Journey to Urge Congress to Pass the Equality Act

In the years since coming out as a transgender woman, Danielle Brown faced discrimination, harassment and even threats to her life — but said the worst part was not being taken seriously by society.

“No one gives me a chance. Being looked at as a joke in the workplace,” Brown said during a press conference. “Discrimination against LGBT people is real. People’s civil liberties are being denied.”

Brown joined pro-equality Senator Jacky Rosen in Nevada last week to talk about the vital need for Congress to pass the Equality Act — legislation that would finally ensure LGBTQ people are protected from discrimination nationwide.

Although Nevada has explicit laws in place to protect LGBTQ people in key areas of life, including in employment, housing and public services, an estimated 50% of LGBTQ Americans live in a majority of states where they’re still at risk of discrimination because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

The Equality Act would fix the patchwork of protections and add clear, comprehensive federal non-discrimination protections for LGBTQ people to our nation’s existing civil rights laws, protecting LGBTQ workers like Brown.

Join HRC as a Community Co-Sponsor to urge Congress to finally pass the Equality Act. The time for Congress to act is now.

Adam Schiff Calls on Attorney General Bill Barr to Resign: WATCH

Adam Schiff Calls on Attorney General Bill Barr to Resign: WATCH

House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff called on Attorney General Bill Barr to resign for lying to Congress.

Barr told Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) during a Senate hearing, “I don’t know whether Bob Mueller supported my conclusions.”

On April 20th, I asked Barr, “Did Bob Mueller support your conclusion?” His answer was, “I don’t know whether Mueller supported my conclusion.”

We now know Mueller stated his concerns on March 27th, and that Barr totally misled me, the Congress, and the public. He must resign. pic.twitter.com/rod404BbYo

But Barr knew whether Mueller supported his conclusions, because Mueller had sent Barr a letter objecting to his characterizations of the Mueller Report’s findings.

On Wednesday, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) called on Barr to resign.

Said Schiff: “I think his statement is deliberately false and misleading, and yes, most people would consider that to be a lie. He’s a very smart man. He knew exactly what he was being asked by Congress, and he knew his answer was false. So look, there’s no sugar coating this, I think he should step down. It’s hard, I think, for the country to have confidence in the top law enforcement official in the country if he’s asked a direct question as he was and he gives a directly false answer, so this is serious business.”
